That first shot has got to be a shot from a performance of The Lung. That’s the only song where I’ve really noticed he grabs the mic.
April 4, 2012 at 3:21 pm #127614Awesome flyer, I love that last picture that’s a work of art ! Would make a great poster
April 4, 2012 at 6:09 pm #127615I’ve posted them over at offsetguitars before.
April 9, 2012 at 9:19 am #127616Does anyone know if J is running all three heads and three stacks at the same time or does he do combos turning some off for when he’s not soloing or rocking a heavy riff?
April 11, 2012 at 3:04 pm #127617All at the same time. The trick is J doesn’t dime everything like a lot of people do. So there’s still dynamics and whatnot. All of the volume changes comes from his board.
April 11, 2012 at 4:42 pm #127618Thanks Matthoney, that’s what I alway assumed. I watched a Joe Bonamassa gear clip and he alternates and combines heads, so it got me wondering if J does any of that.
April 12, 2012 at 5:24 am #127619Anybody want to swap an official Lou farm purple pick for a different one ?
I have ( dinosaur/start choppin/beyond/Lou farm/j farm) Any apart from this would be cool….. I want a several shades if possible..
April 12, 2012 at 4:29 pm #127620No problem Obseqio. Maybe during the mid 90s J would have tried something like that, but I recall reading that now he tries to keep things simple (or as simple as three stacks and a giant pedalboard is). Plus there’s no real reason for him to do something like that, since he gets all of his volume and drive boosts from his board. If he were using less effects, or had different amps perhaps, then it could make a difference, but as far as his current setup goes, turning amps on and off wouldn’t do much in the greater scheme of things.
April 23, 2012 at 12:04 pm #127621Thought you guys might get a kick out of this picture John Agnello posted on twitter from a certain studio today.

I recognize most of those. My guess is he is doing some work on the new Dino album.
October 20, 2012 at 7:05 pm #127622Got a look at J’s pedalboard last night (Bet On Sky tour). Anyone have any clues as to what the trapezoidal bronze pedal at the front of his pedalboard is?
October 21, 2012 at 5:38 pm #127623I believe I have figured out the first pedal (the bronze one) is an Analogman Sun Lion (http://www.analogman.com/sunlion.htm)
October 22, 2012 at 3:57 am #127624do you have a pic of his current board? I’m pretty good at identifying pedals, but I haven’t seen a clear enough picture.
October 23, 2012 at 2:39 am #127625I think the trapezoidal one was made for J by Jim Roth, its in the spot that the sun lion used to be in.
October 23, 2012 at 10:36 am #127626I’ve been watching the WOW Hall videos posted by Phishbeard (thanks for posting these!) and had a couple of gear questions:
Does anyone know what pedal/setting J is using on Don’t Pretend You Didn’t Know (the jam toward the end, and I guess on the studio recording as well) to get that warble effect?
On Almost Fare played at the WOW hall show, are the keyboards on a loop pedal?
Also, on the album, is Murph playing timbales on I Know It Oh So Well?
