Thanks, Hatchetface.
Sounds like an organ, cool. Is he using a delay with the Pog2?
Is the keyboard sounding loop on Almost Fare (live) also a guitar?
October 24, 2012 at 12:50 pm #127629I think he does use some delay on the solo for Don’t pretend. I’m not sure if the keyboard sound on Almost Fare live is just the pog or if he does have it on a loop..I noticed that he has a loop junky on his board this time..so it could be.
October 24, 2012 at 12:52 pm #127630If you go to premier guitars facebook and scroll down a little there is a good picture of his pedalboard for this tour, and some other stuff on his guitars and amps..also they did a rig rundown video on his stuff too..that should be on YouTube soon.
October 24, 2012 at 5:49 pm #127631Sweet pic, but I’m not sure if that’s a loop junky. His is a purple one. I think it’s just another Zvex pedal, but I’m not sure which.
Interesting that he got rid of the Analogman Sunlion and replaced it with that custom Jim Roth pedal, and that he’s still using his vintage Muff despite the Fuzz Munchkin being built to replace it live.
I can’t wait to see a rig rundown on J. I’ve always been curious to see him talk about his rig in such detail.
October 24, 2012 at 8:49 pm #127632Hatchetface– thanks for the Premier Guitar facebook info.
Re. Premier Guitar’s picture of J’s pedalboard, Zvex’s Lo Fi Loop Junky has 5 dials at the top and 2 button foot switches (start and record) at the bottom, which the pedal on the bottom left of J’s pedalboard also has in the picture.
I’m no expert, but I’ve looked at a bunch of Zvex pedals, have played a few, and own one; off the top of my head, I don’t know of other Zvex pedals that have the 5 dials/2 switches layout that the Lo Fi Loop Junky has. It looks like a custom paint job, whatever it is.
It seems like the keyboard sounds on Almost Fare (live) are on a loop, not being played live, because in the WOW hall video J is playing guitar and in the background there’s keyboards (or guitar that sounds like keyboards) that must be on a loop, because he’s playing guitar while the “keyboard” melody is going, and which sounds great. Wild how closely he approximates the Mellotron/keyboard sounds on the album with the Pog2.
October 25, 2012 at 12:46 am #127633That other zvex at the bottom left is the first double rock that zvex made for J. The loop junky is above the pog…I agree it sounds like a loop on the live version of almost fare.
