Just letting you guys know about a band which is starting to do big things down here in OZ. They are called the vines and they totally rock.

It’s AntiPOP time again…. <img>

I am going to see the Vines in about two weeks time here in Amsterdam, think it will be a fun gig (despite all the hype surrounding them….)

They somehow remind me of the Beatles, the Police, Supergrass and a certain quite famous trio from Seattle (which, alas, is no longer with us…. <img> )

Not a Vines fan, I bought their CD and listened to it a couple of times–it was just too slow. I dunno, they aren’t terrible and the singer’s insane behavior makes me laugh. They kinda remind me of BRMC for some reason. Oh well, I like the Strokes, the Hives and the White Stripes, just no more room for garage bands starting with the <img> .

Actually, AP, Vines are sort of huge in a mainstream way right now in the US. They were even on the MTV Video Music Awards and everything. And their preformance on Letterman is a classic.

Have any of you guys heard the new Audioslave single? I just downloaded it from the artist spotlight section at Launch Yahoo! and I love it. Here’s some info about the band:
– AUDIOSLAVE is a band made up of Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, and members of RATM
– The demos on that leaked out onto the internet titled “Civilianâ€

Harsh man! Do you really think we need to drive the newbies away? We don’t get that many anyway. Admitedly Audioslave seems awfully mainstreen for the board, but nonetheless. . .

Nothing against Audioslave – in fact, I like them. I just don’t like those things where bands tell their board members to go post random stuff about the band at other boards to get free shwag. Silverchair pissed the hell out of me earlier this year doing it, and Abandoned Pools is pretty bad too.
