Just what is the right hair?

Seriously dude, I’m driving 2.5 hours on a Thursday for the show in KY and flying to Boston for another one. Dino/J hasn’t been to Indianapolis since ’95 but I accept that my lame city can’t get good bands so in order to see them, I’ll have to drive or fly somewhere else. If you’re not willing to do the same, don’t expect the bands to come to you.

Freakscene86: I understand how unfair it feels. I live in Finland and J has never been here. Though this year I might be lucky and get a chance to see Dino in Germany(and that is faaar away from my home).

Maxini: There is a clearly distinct difference beetween Finnish and Swedish haircultures… Swedes are much more into putting their hair into the latest, hotest, style(with wax etc.). Finns are generally quite unaware of doing any radical things with their hairstyle.
I don’t know if any of these is better, because I neither think it looks so good with the "ultra balla hockeyfrillan, 80’s are back!" -style or with the traditional finnish style where you cut your hair as practical as possible("so that it doesn’t disturb your view while you work in the woods")… :D

Sounds like it’s just a bad case of "you’re shit out of luck."

What band can make it to every country???

No need to take it out on J. Especially since he’s the one that plans the tours I’m sure.

            </sarcasm>.

              duuuude, J played at Tavastia/Helsinki in ´98.

same place where Lou plays next week.

Swedish hairdos make me want reach for my revolver.

Mike D:sco: Ah, ok. I thought he has never visited Finland because there aren’t any Finnish gigs listed on the Severed Lips -homepage, the website with the concert chronology. If you remember the date and some other info regarding the gig, you could send it to the webmaster and make him/her happy! :D

Hmmm… I want to visit the upcoming Lou Barlow gig, but its on wednesday and I have a lot to do the next day. But he doesn’t visit Finland every day… Have to think about it. :)

Perhaps J has Canadian problems, I am a nice person but I am not allowed in Canada. I have Canadian problems. I love Canada, it’s just too bad.

i just recently toured the States with my punk/hc band, HERO DISHONEST, (we´re from Finland) and i heard from soooo many people that getting to Canada and play there is a bit like trying to play in North Korea. maybe this goes only for the DIY tours and bands and i don´t think it´s the case with J but i heard there´s always some serious hassle on the border and musicians get banned for years.

we have our own North Korea here in Europe, too. it´s called Sweden. they just don´t want your band to play there unless you´re from US and have the right hair.

…Need Visas, no criminal record and lots and lots of insurance, and perhaps a production company who will take care of all that… or just say you’re visiting a friend…. and bringing your guitar 8)

to clear the record, I have no criminal record (by the grace of God) but back in the fall of ’88, I believe, I was staying in Toronto with a boyfriend, and a friend of friend of his, came to town and needed a place to stay, I got him a hotel room and paid for it, etc, like two days later the police tracked me down and took me in because said person had done $3,000  worth of damage to the hotel room.

When we got in touch with the fellow who used the room he said he went out drinking with friends and when he came back to the room he got really depressed about the WAYNE GRETZKY trade. Really depressed and REALLY ANGRY.

I didn’t follow through with the correct legal stuff so………..
they told me not to come back.

I hear Canada is like that place in "The Giver." That was a weird book, so I dont plan on going there anytime soon.

hey annastefka, that seems pretty harsh … isn’t there a time limit or a waiver system on this sort of thing? :|

I don’t know, I have over the years just thought if I ignore it, it will go away.

Someday, I am going to find out.

haha i love how he got so depressed and angry that he caused $3,000 worth of damage and he thinks its justified.

No, Canada is beautiful and has so much unspoiled nature. They are a refined and intelligent people. Many there support the arts. I remember the beer being very good but so expensive and you could buy morphine in over-the-counter medicine. I bet they have done away with that.
p.s. good idea Rambleon, but you know I sort of hate to bring it up again because if it has sort of fallen between the cracks I would like to keep it there. It would be nice to call and ask for a list of those people who are not allowed in Canada and see if I am on that list. I don’t think that is how it is done.

I am going to get some Dinosaur Jr. tickets today, I think.
