Pretty much a summary of what we already know but the first line was goofy enough for me to post it.

Another Round of Dinosaur Jr News, What Will It Be This Time?

Reunited heavy-indie-guitar-heart-on-sleeve-murph-on-drums-rock combo Dinosaur Jr (Dinosaur to the 40+ hipster crowd) have more things to let the world in on, and by-god, we here at TMT would love to be that Dino-land news conduit. When we last met our heroes, they were announcing more reunion tourdates, letting the world know that new songs, recordings, and an album may be in the works. Guys with long-ish hair and crappy-ish jobs shat themselves. But enough with the old news, on to the new news.

On May 16th, the Rhino label is reissuing expanded versions of two Dinosaur Jr albums from the ’90s, Green Mind and Where You Been. In addition to those gems from a bygone era, the label is also releasing an album of J Mascis’ first acoustic live performance, circa 1993, entitled Live At CBGB: The First Acoustic Performance. No mistaking what you are getting with that title, but I digress.

Both reissues are (relative) milestones in DJ history. GM is the first album the group released on a major label and contains their first appearance on the Modern Rock charts, in the form of the single "The Wagon." WYB, on the other hand, shifted the most units (that’s selling records in corporate-asshole speak) of any of the group’s albums to date. Rhino plans to add rare or previously unreleased songs to to both of the records. Mind will boast "Turnip Farm," "Forget It," and a Flying Burrito Brothers cover, "Hot Burrito #2," which has the backing vocal stylings of actor Matt Dillon (let’s hope they are way in the back). Been will feature "Hide" from one of the band’s Peel Sessions, an alternate take of "Keeblin’," and a ten-minute live version of "What Else Is New."

The acoustic live album will feature songs familiar to anyone who has seen Dinosaur Jr (’90s version), J Mascis, or J with the Fog live. Or at least have heard J’s first live acoustic album, Martin & Me. "Repulsion," "Quest," "Flying Cloud," & "Get Me" are among the twelve tracks on the album, ten of which are previously unreleased. Not to mention, there will be only 5,000 copies of this album, and they will only be available at certain independent record stores (no, Best Buy is not an indie record store).

So, to sum it up, this band has a lot of goings ons going on. The two reissues and an acoustic live album. Plus, new songs and maybe a new album. Oh yeah, there is also a forthcoming live DVD. Plus, J is in a new band. And then whatever news will happen next week. And a new tour starting in March. Whew.
