seriously though, my experience is that it’s best to wait a wee while until they’ve fixed the first glitches etc.
If you get it, or try a computer with it installed, I’d love to hear your thoughts.February 6, 2007 at 5:03 pm #125540A friend of mine got an advanced copy. He says it’s pretty cool.
I fucking hate widgets though.
February 6, 2007 at 7:48 pm #125541considering a mac, I’m a soulseek girl though, whats your experience with the p2p madness on a mac…

February 8, 2007 at 9:38 am #125542If you do go mac (and they say you never go back) – here is a way to get it cheaper than an educational discount –

I’m actually specking out a macbook now.I am not
upgradingswitching any of my machines to vista. While the upgrades in office for 2007 were actually improvements (we use it at work), the vista stuff does not seem to be so much yet. If you ahve a 64 bit machine, they will make you pay $10 more to get a version for your box and apple has said it may corrupt itunes.
This review actually makes it look like XP was faster. If you do upgrade, I would wait for just a bit.
** I have noticed some vista users showing up on the servers stats so if any of you want to chime in we would like to hear it
also – if you want to save some bucks, you can get the upgrade version and do a full install using this workaround. Here are some good upgrade tips too – http://lifehacker.com/software/vista/geek-to-live-windows-vista-upgrade-power-tips-231922.php”>http://lifehacker.com/software/vista/ge … 231922.php
February 8, 2007 at 9:56 am #125543I know someone who has a ‘trial’ version of Vista, he got off bittorrent. He cracked the ‘trial’, so now it thinks (always) that it has tens of thousands of hours left on the trial.
He raves about it.
February 8, 2007 at 10:46 am #125544If you’re just looking for a computer that can get you on Freakscene (web browsing), EMAIL, ability to play music and video, and SoulSeek (NICOTINE) please look at UBUNTU or KUBUNTU
Both are Linux distributions, I personally use KUBUNTU, and both can be installed on your existing computer hardware.
And both are totally free.Direct KUBUNTU download link from Chicago:

If you get it, or try a computer with it installed, I’d love to hear your thoughts.A well know glitch for *many* Vista users is the inability to get iTunes to work. They are currently incompatible for many users. A patch is expected to come out soon- but I haven’t heard anything yet.
February 8, 2007 at 11:30 am #125546I switched to a Mac about a month ago. Robert helped me get going, and now that I’m used to it, theres no way I’m going back to a PC. Seriously you should consider a Mac.

Widgets are those things you can put on your desktop…clocks, calenders, weather reports, stuff like that. It started on Macs but they’re putting it on Vista just to attempt to convert Mac users. Widgets just seem really gimmicky.
February 9, 2007 at 1:33 am #125548widgets are annoying , thanks for the explanation

leaning more and more to the mac deal, thanks for all the suggestions

Well Miss Soulseek, there’s a mutated version called nicotine that works fine on mac, so you’ll have no problem getting your daily fix.
+ a girl such as yourself should definetely have a mac.February 9, 2007 at 4:45 pm #125550The "Freak Scene Junkies" Chat Room is alive on Soul Seek
