      Hey,
Last night at the Troubadour was the 4th of 6 shows I’ve filmed on this tour and I must say that it was also the best performance so far. The band seemed really into it and energetic, compared to the 4 previous shows. I haven’t watched the footage yet to get the setlist, but I remember they opened with "What Else Is New." Also, they dumped "Just Like Heaven" from the set, which they had been practicing at soundchecks recently and actually played at the San Francisco shows and instead did "Maggot Brain" which was awesome. Also, Watt sang his ass off on a cover of the Stooges’ "Not Right." I believe everything else was basically the same set as usual, in a slightly different order. If someone else can remember the setlist, post it here. Otherwise, I’ll post it once I watch the footage.

I’m glad the band turned out to be on fire that night, because it was the complete opposite over at Aron’s records 2hrs earlier.
The in-store was supposed to start at 7pm, but due to soundcheck, traffic & parking, the J didn’t show up till about 7:15pm. I could tell there’d be problems from the start, because they tried to set J up with a stool, when he needs a lower chair to sit in, so he can use his guitar pedals. Then, the chair they got him was an office type chair on wheels, so he rolled around on the tile floor. They had the wrong mic stand and so J had to improvise by stacking a few cd’s under the base to angle the mic so he could sing. And to top it all off, the sound through the PA was pretty bad and you could tell J was getting annoyed. I set up between J and the PA system to avoid the crappy sound and get more of just the natural sound of the acoustic & his voice, which worked fine. So, he played shorter than he did at the instore up in San Francisco, but the one redeeming thing about the in-store was the fact that he ended with "Not You Again" which was very cool. I didn’t stick around for the signing and everything, I packed up and headed down the street to the Troubadour to set up for the band’s set.

I’ll be at the Troubadour again tonight filming and also at the Casbah in San Diego on saturday night. If you’re there, stop by and say hi.

        Hey there Apache,
I am actually going to tonight’s show at the Troubadour. I’ve never seen a show there before. What was the turnout like ? I am bringing along the wife and she is not the biggest Dinosaur fan…do you recall whether there were any seats or tables with seats available to sit at during the show ?….just wondering….thanks for the review…got me all primed for tonight’s show.

It’s a pretty small venue..narrow & long (width-wise it’s long, but not deep). It’s a very cool place to see shows. There is a stairway at each end of the bar that’ll take you up to a "balcony" where there are a few rows of bench type seating. It’d be perfect to grab a spot in the front row there..that’s the prime spot to watch the show w/ an unobstructed view. Also, that’s exactly where I’ll be filming from tonight, so you’ll see me up there also.

It’s going to be a good show…make sure you bring earplugs!! They’re absolutely essential…you’ll be hating life if you don’t. They sell them in the front bar for $1 a pair.

          See you there!!!
