I was talking to a friend of mine and Modest Mouse came up and he said something to the effect of, "Yeah, I really like that ‘Teeth Like God’s Shoeshine’ song, f**king rocks, but everything else they did sucks… I bought the album anyway." And so, I got to thinking and a good 10% of my CD collection is probably exactly that way – LPs with one song I like and the rest sucks.

So, what CDs do you dudes (and dudettes) own that you bought for one awesome song, and the rest sucks? (List song.)

Here’s some I thought of:
Crash Test Dummies – God Shuffled His Feet (Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm)
Bush – Golden State (People That We Love)
Dave Matthews Band – Under The Table and Dreaming (Ants Marching)
Flickerstick – ____________?? (Beautiful)
Filter – Title Of Record (Best Things)
Gorillaz – Gorillaz (Clint Eastwood)
Hole – Celebrity Skin (Celebrity Skin)
New Order – GetReady (Turn My Way)
Incubus – Morning View (Wish You Were Here)
UPO – ___________?? (godless)
Placebo – Brick Shithouse (Every You, Every Me)
Soul Asylum – Let Your Dim Light Shine Down (Misery)
The Cure – Bloodflowers (Maybe Someday)
Tool – Undertow (Sober)
Violent Femmes – _________?? (blister In The Sun)

Varsity Blues Soundtrack (Fastball’s "Are You Ready for the Fallout")

Crash Test Dummies-God Shuffled his Feet (My Body, and maybe "Afternoons and Cofeespoons")

Mighty Mighty Bosstones-that one real big album with knock on wood (Rascal King)

I guess I buy for the big singles and like something else

jesus and mary chain–automatic (head on). however, there are some other good songs on there. overall, though, the album is not that good.

i think that’s it. i don’t listen to the radio so i don’t really hear singles anymore. also, i probably would have sold an album like that back when i was broke but still had the need to buy cds.

rem :: monster (Crush With Eyeliner) * also the only rem album I have ever owned

Wax :: 13 Unlucky Numbers (California)

Morbid Angel :: Covenant (Nar Mattaru)

Tool :: Opiate (Sweat)

Mr. Bungle :: California (Ars Moriendi) – they will never top the self titled release. The Patton solo stuff is interesting though.

Melrose Place Soundtrack :: (Dino – Blah)

I’m sure I’ll think of more….

I have to agree with NIN – Downward Spiral, although my track on there was Becoming.

The Singles Soundtrack was incredible though.

Further down the spiral was a far greater album than the Downward Sprial IMHO ‘
