GRand Funk. Nice choice. Homer J Simpsons favorite band of all time. I actually lived in Flint for about a year when my dad was going to college there.

+ Butthole Sufers named their dog Mark Farner of Grandfunk Railroad. Further evidence they’re kick ass.

Love Story is an excellent documentary. That and the Shane MacGowan doc are probably my two favorite music docs.

Yes ! ‘If I Should Fall From Grace With God’ is such an excellent documentary !
The Brian Jonestown Massacre documentary is also a nice one.

Worst documentary ? Slow Century. Without a doubt. Pavement deserved so much better than that. It’s a shame it was even released.

        Scott Walker-Scott 4(1969)

Starting out as a teen idol singer in the early `60s,(real name Scott Engel) moved to the UK and teamed up with a couple others and formed the Walker Brothers.A Righteous Brothers styled group.Disenchanted with the music biz after the demise of the Walkers,he went solo drawing on Sinatra and Bennett for inspiration and recorded songs by Jacques Brel and eventually his own tunes. These late `60s masterpieces are filled with big string arrangements with Scott`s crooner voice on top singing songs like from some twilight zone cabaret show with songs about Stalin, transvestites, and angels.
The list of Walker`s fans range from David Bowie to Nick Cave.In the `70s Walker went recluse and did`nt back a comeback til the `90s.He`s done a few more records since then. He`s one of the true weirdos of music in the last 40 years or so.

Incredible String Band-5000 Spirits Or The Layers Of The Onion(1967) and The Hangman`s Beautiful Daughter(1968)

I`ve alluded to the brillance of this band before. Two scots who lived in caves and wrote songs about talking clouds, hedgehogs that advise you on your lovelife, and so on.Whatever these guys were smoking… I don`t know.Steve Malkmus declared them the greatest band of all time. They played Woodstock but they did`nt get much attention from it.Freak Folk or folk for freaks i guess
