A while back, (in february) i went to see J and The Fog. They started out with "the lung" and the guitars sounded great. Except, when J moved up to the mic and started to sing, i couldnt hear it at all. :? i just wanted to know if this has happened at any other shows.. my guess is that everything(bass, guitar, and drums) was turned up too loud for the mic to be heard, because on "Free so free" i could hear him sing. I was forced to leave after the Fifth song, due to how insanely loud it was, and from outside i could hear him perfectly. :? :? verrry odd…

try standing further away from the stage and pa speakers. When I saw the fog I was standing in front of the stage and had also problems hearing the vocal.. that was not the case when I stood at the back of the room.

That standing back thing in a more central way is a good plan, but here’s a link to a thread about the whole concert volume experience..

George gives some advice on earplugs, even J wears them…

Well, it might have something to do with all those Marshalls behind J. blasting out a lot of decibels, it might be that when you are standing right in front of the stage you’re hearing just that, the vocals should be coming to your ears through the PA on the side of the stage, but I can imagine them being drowned a little through all those amplifiers on stage, and that when you’re standing a little more in the back you are basically hearing all through the PA.

Any sound-technicians out there that can shed a light on this :?: :?: :?:

yeah, that probably was the case, i was right against the stage, kind of over to the side. ill remember to get further back next time, or at least more to the center. thanks for the advice! :)
