After reading a recent post by Salamiguy, in which he claimed to be of at least ten different ethnic heritages , I’m just curious– what kind of background does everybody here come from? Not everyone has shared a picture (though I think we should revive that thread), so help me paint a portrait in my mind.

      I myself am one-half Italian, one-quarter German, and one-eighth each Russian and Hungarian.

          I’m a maximum 12.5% Irish, the rest English. My great-grandfather might have been all Irish, or he might not have, but all my other great-grandparents were of English descent or from England.

            50% Brabant / 50 % Limburg ===> 100% Dutch!

            (although some dutch people might argue about the ‘dutchness’ of that Limburg part…. )

                  25 % Sicilian, 25% Italian, 25% Swedish (maybe more), Some part unknown, and some part Native America (unknown tribe).. My dad’s mother died when my dad was 11, so I was unable to talk with her. Also, there is no official record of my dad’s mom’s birth.

                  So, all in all, I am a mutt.

                          All English, although half Cockney (east london) and half Mackam (Sunderland, near Newcastle). Guess that makes me a cockam, or a MacCock.

                            I’m half Cuban, the rest mostly English, then Danish then Irish.

                            Me mum does geneology and she’s got English ancestors going back to the mid 1600’s in Conneticut. I bet they must have been poor lil farmers …

                              And you Malcom?

                              Some of my ancestors emigrated to the US in the 19th century, but we’ve lost all contact to the relatives there. Don’t even know their names. My aunt wanted to ask the mormons about them, they have many ancient family registers.

                                  My father’s side is pretty much impossible trait, because we have a very common last name. I donna think the mormans could figure it out.

                                  My mothers side was from a town called, I believe, Darmstadt, which I belive was in southern Germany. The irony is that an oldtimer at one of my fathers family reunions (who wasn’t a direct relative) remembers bombing the town. I’m getting my story befuddled, but the overall point is that Darnstadt was probably bombed off the map during the second world war. I can’t find it on any maps anyway, nor could my highschool German instructor.
