Borrowing from Chris in the # of Albums J has sold thread, where he says The First album I ever got was… I decided to start this topic..
Mine, at least from what I can remember was Metallica’s Master of Puppets.
I still think it is an all time classic..Carl.

Don`t worry about that you did`nt know it was done before, its hard to keep track of topics here.
August 3, 2002 at 3:49 pm #71011Carl. I didn’t remember this topic either. I did want to clarify something however. "Where you Been" was the first J or dino album I ever got. If you must know the first album I remember buying was many years before. I’m sure everyone knows Journey, I bought there album "Escape" on tape when it came out. I still own it and could find it if I needed to. (Don’t ask me why I remember odd stuff lke this)
Still a good topic and I’m going to check out the link too.
Chris
August 3, 2002 at 6:06 pm #71012Hmm, I remember Escape.. I can not remeber if I asked my parents to buy it for me, or if I bought it.. I think it was the former..
Damn you Chris, putting those Journey memories in my head!!! "Sitin’ in a smoky room, I smell wine and cheap perfume.."

August 3, 2002 at 7:19 pm #71013First ever bought for me was a ’45 of ‘Rock Me Amadeus’ by Falco.
First bought with own money was (I think) George Michael’s ‘Faith’, on cassette.
Hello, 80s.

August 3, 2002 at 11:52 pm #71014First album I ever bought was ‘the raw and the cooked’ by the Fine Young Cannibals–on cassette. Fifth grade. It sucks now, though a couple of those songs are still okay.
August 4, 2002 at 2:25 am #71015ahh before I registered… Thanks..
Carl.
August 5, 2002 at 10:15 am #71016Rosa – you are too cool. Rock me amadeus was amazing. Falco was a bit weird though. Spose George Michael ain’t that normal.
Mine was also an eighties classic – Dexys Midnight Runners – Too Rye Aye. Think I was about 7 or 8. Loved some of the songs thereon – especially One Last Wild Waltz, Pure and Celtic Soul Brothers.
August 5, 2002 at 11:02 am #71017the first album i ever bought was either ac/dc back in black, or one of the kiss solo albums……circa ’79-’80
August 5, 2002 at 3:28 pm #71018good news is my parents were way into music and hooked me up thatta way mucho when i was a kid so i am pretty sure the first album i paid for was pat benatar, umm the name somehow escapes me but she did a kickass cover of helter skelter on it.
August 5, 2002 at 5:09 pm #71019Sarsaparilly brings up another topic all together in my opinion regarding parents and music I listened to growing up.
So far the topic is still…The first album YOU bought yourself. I’ll add the new one in a day or two. This will be too good, please just be patient.
Carl. "Wheels in the sky"
ChrisAugust 5, 2002 at 8:29 pm #71020The first record I ever bought was "mighty Joe" by a dutch band called "Shocking Blue". Maybe you people from the states can remember the song "Venus".
I was 10 years old and I was so in love with the girlsinger. I could stare at the sleave for houres, watching mysterious look in her eye, her half covered breasts, I even looked up her phonenumber in The Hague and try to call her, just to tell her I love her. My room was filled with posters of her, she was so sexy.
She still performs these days, she turned out to be a jazzy singer…but now she looks like a jellyfish, so fat. There is nothing left to remind me of my lovin’ feelings I had for her…and believe me "they were deeeeep"August 6, 2002 at 2:10 am #71021I’m soooo ashamed :
1st ’45 = Bucks Fizz : ‘Makin’ Your Mind Up’
1st LP = Abba : Super TrooperMade up a funny dance with my brother to Bucks Fizz – we used to dance to it in the bedroom…
Thank the Lord I found J. I went via Erasure, Transvision Vamp along the way mind, but worth it in the end
August 6, 2002 at 2:37 am #71022Bucks Fizz are great (I think it has something to do with the first part of their name… ), I recently played their 45 ‘Land of make believe’ at a party, and you had to be there to believe the funny dances the people did to that one
Well, to be honest, it was 7 in the morning, and the effects of a lot of beer and tequila started to show a little…..
