Heck yes there are bigfoots around…my husband says…thats just nuts, if that were the case we would have found bones…lots of bones and the corpses of the elderly bigfoots laying around the forest half rotting…I must say…that is a good point.
I’m still awake tidying up for Santa (wink, wink) I have my nephews and nieces here with me (they are in their 20’s), the kachelofan is filled to the top, the stockings have been hung with care, the baklava has been ripening in the pan for days. My husband is stretched out in front of the fire reading. Alvaro is asleep in his Santa PJ’s….the peacefulness of this Christmas Eve has fully come down upon our little house. I’m feeling blessed to capacity (as usual)…running off to do Midnight Mass.
I am so thankful on this Christmas Eve for every little beautiful thing God has given me.OH, prayer needed…I don’t know if you have heard but Vic is in a coma and nobody around town seems to know what led up to this. Here is an article from the Athens Banner Herald or as we like to call it the Banana Herald. http://onlineathens.com/stories/122409/bre_539348909.shtml”>http://onlineathens.com/stories/122409/ … 8909.shtml
December 26, 2009 at 9:59 am #137136You carry a gun, Stefka?
That’s one of the most messed up things I’ve heard all day. My world is rattled.December 28, 2009 at 11:05 pm #137137I don’t have time to go into my long winded gun speech but I’m home alone with the children a bit and I live down a long dirt road, we have weathered all kind of storms when Dad has been away… tornadoes, power outages…all kind of things…the kids asked me all the time when they were young "Mama, are you scared when Daddy is away?" and my answer was and is always…never…never ever afraid…I have a great alert dog, my dog barks when someone enters my drive..which is a good distance away from the house and I have the holy trinity of guns, the handgun, the rifle and a sawed-off shot gun (within the legal GA limit) and I know how to load them and use them. We keep them unloaded but the clip and shells are in my night side table. Heck yeah, I feel safe.
Also, my children don’t have to read Anne Frank for school, they read many other wonderful things…but Anne Frank is not on their list…I have read the story to two of my older children when they were in sixth grade. I had a very wise High School History teacher in the 11th grade and her name was Mrs. Hotel (true name) and she taught me the best lesson about history…1) There is nothing new under the sun…it just manifests in different ways. 2) History repeats itself (I was dubious about this one when I was younger but now I’m old enough to understand it’s truth) ….I just want to make it understood that I don’t believe I will ever have to use any gun…just like syrup of ipecac (I’ve mentioned it here before) I keep it in my house but I don’t expect to ever need to use it. Read Anne Frank (bless her Gemini Soul) perhaps thats why the story resonates so much with me….when "they" are coming to houses and removing families….putting them into the Ghetto’s….you know and then into boxcars….now I’m not one of those folks who believe that "our government" would do this to us…I’m not too much into that weird stuff….but not to long ago in the past we did have governments doing that to it’s citizens (and as we know in some countries it’s still going on today) I have a friend, the one who has the blues party every year at his house, and God Bless his Mother, I actually enjoy her stories, but she loves to tell us stories of growing up in Germany and it was so cold….she always talks about how cold it was, it was so cold, she says over and over, you don’t know this kind of cold, then she tells us the same stories of how her brothers were all a part of the Hitler Youth Movement, she tells us about all the spectacular parties they had, with dancing and fun. She says she supported it because "We didn’t know any better" "it’s what everybody did, it’s what we had to do" It really keeps it up front in my senses, I have her stories and her memories….and then I see Mrs. Hotel in my mind, standing right behind her, and I think…Could anything like that ever happen again…NO…I think…No way. I know for sure that no one is coming into my house to take anything…or to ever try and hurt me or my children or remove me or my family from my
house…without me putting up a good fight. Our founding Fathers gave us the second amendment. What is the primary function of the second amendment? Deterring an undemocratic government and repelling an invasion. The Poles were screwed…all they had to fight back with were some rakes and shovels. If any one tried to "take over" our country….especially if they came down South, they would be in for a huge fight…Girl, as much as I love the great state of Vermont…I would have to say…you Yanks would be F*cked. You probably have a few rifles up in Maine, some dope dealers with pistols down in Boston but other than that…Lord help you up in your peaceful spot in the woods. We are peace lovers in this house…just to give you a warm fuzzy feeling I’m posting a picture of our new baby..his name is "New" (Alvaro named him)
bummer link is broken, too tired to fix it tonight…must go to bed.December 29, 2009 at 3:30 pm #137138I’m hoping to get some shot gun shell fireworks for new years eve…although since neither my husband or I are working right now…and we are just living off of savings…I think he will nix the idea as a ridiculous waste of money…but if I catch him in the correct mood…he will agree… they are fun, fun, fun. Funner than a Hitler Youth Dance Party.

ps. I thought I had to use the word funner…instead of more fun because, you know I’m a talkin’ ’bout a shotgun new years eve event…everybody brings out their guns for new years eve…in fact…if you look at 911 records..the first call of a new year will always be a "Shots Fired" call. We had our good gay friend from San Francisco with us a few years ago…and he got scared…he was like, hanging onto me after mid-night saying….I’m getting on the first plane out of this shitty red state before I end up dead. WTF is this…it sounds like a war. Our poor dogs will bark and cry and bark and cry…running through the whole house frantic, I hate that part of new years eve. Someone is always on "be with the dogs" duty. Because they think, our whole life is about to go down the drain…and they want to protect us from it all. If only they understood time..understood…it was the month of January…remember, it’s real cold,we are burning lots of wood and we have been filling our tummys with lots of bad sugary foods…we have the Christmas tree up still….the gun fire night is coming soon, but still every year…they don’t get it.
Oh, yeah, I know there is nothing dumber than guns and alcohol mixed together. We don’t drink in this house but every year in the South there is that person that is forced to understand…what goes up…must come down…and that it would have been best to use special shells that are not dangerous. Stupid is really found everywhere, not just in the South, although sometimes it feels like it’s more in the South…(it’s not really, I’ve traveled a little and found stupid everywhere)
December 30, 2009 at 11:10 am #137139Oh my. I think I would be like your gay friend and hold on tight to you. And I promise I would only cop a feel out of terror not from perversion.
January 10, 2010 at 2:55 pm #137140Alvaro sleeping with the new baby….Thanksgiving morning (around 11AM) he is in the middle of the field with only his underwear on and shirt/pull over….before the cold snap hit us.
The whole shot included his face…I don’t know what happened when I tried to post…just so you don’t think I’m posting a photo of just a baby’s rump…you know how weird people get these days….but Alvaro was sleeping so the shot was very cute. He fell asleep with the baby goat lying in a sunny spot in the field. When it was almost time to leave to go to Grandma’s house, I couldn’t find him. The other kids said they thought he had gone out to check on the baby goat. So Cuteeeeeeeeeeee!
January 11, 2010 at 6:33 pm #137141That is adorable to the max! Baby animals are soft and special and make your heart go Awwww. Add in Alvaro running around outside in his undies until he falls alseep from exhaustion = Awwww times 8.
January 27, 2010 at 2:27 am #137142I can’t say 2009 was a particularly good year for me (pretty shitty actually). However, I forced myself to go out, and I ended up meeting some pretty unforgettable people. Can’t beat that.
I know I’m a little late on this thread, but I felt like being positive. heh
May 26, 2010 at 10:01 pm #137143I have 3 happiest moments, when I got married to my wonderful wife the birth of my twin girls, and the birth of my son. I know, it’s sappy.
