I owned a reissue of the Blue Box and mucked around with it extensively, but cannot think of a song in which he uses it. Atleast not using the blend with much of the lower octave at all.

Can anyone point me to J’s use of the Blue Box?

i knew it by another dinosaur jr fan,you will know it when you play with russian bigmuff, yeah its hard to hear it because j used wah on intro of that song..you can hear more noise if you compared that sound with heavy part on the lung or let it ride

i think you’re hearing lou’s bass chords and thinking its the blue box. i’m not saying j never used the mxr pedal, but i’d never heard of him using it on the first couple records, and that pedal sticks out like a sore thumb. it does sound a little like lou’s bass style tho. either way, its by no means a crucial part of his sound.

are you sure it sound came from lou bass?if you wont believe, just try play your muff and jazzmaster with marshall amp,it will sound like little fury things but it cant get 100%,it just like, its not 100%,then try plug with xr blue box, then here you go little fury things with wah,or you can ask it to mxr blue box user, its my opinion because i myself use this pedal too

I cant seem to see why it would be in the LFT intro. It doesnt sound right.

Hmm, he uses the old BB, the one with the block logo. I’m guessing he’s turned to about halfway or so. I’ve never actually heard it on the records, but he uses it on some live jams (those little ones in between songs) and I’m guessing you already know that he uses it on Never Bought It on the intro solo when they playt it live.

But I think its very J-esque though. Ofcourse, when used with a Big Muff.

I love the blue box. its awesome.

                      blue box :D great pedal.

the little fury things issue, I think I’m hearing it there. The wah makes the mad fuzz sounds slicker, but I can hear the octave shifting in there. I think.

He used it on the intro solo on "Never Bought It" on the Jenny Jones show…

hey spooksie,i agree with you, because i heard it too ,because it dont make sense to me thats just muff and wah sound only, there must be other pedal with it and its blue box.

about live on jenny jones show,j has used buebox on solo out there too,i can heard it too.

A whole bunch of them. Try sludgefeast with both knobs turned all the way to the right, and use some weird guitar like a vintage Jazzmaster or Sears U2.

I’m think the MXRBB made regular appearances at mid-nineties Dino live shows. Not sure of specific songs but I think it was fairly frequent around the time of Hand It Over.
