…there is quite a bigger and more lively mod scene in my city than I would have thought. End of January, there is another of those club nights with a special collection of 60’s music from the mod area. And: In the announcement it says that they would appreciate sharply dressed people.
you don’t have to tell me twice to dress up in a sharp way, but how to?

I couldn’t really find a pattern for a mod girl’s dresscode, besides of mini dresses, maybe. but in which shape? which shoes? what to do with my hair?of course I won’t deviate from wearing black, nor I won’t cut my hair, but apart from that, I’m open for suggestions!

what would you guys and girls wear???
January 20, 2005 at 11:57 am #107040I don’t know if Mod and Ska fit in the same category–but I’d say Ruby Red lipstick and a Scottish cap–not to oversimplify–but that’s what comes to mind with Mod-wear for me… duck shoes, bowling shoes or Doc’s… pffff… don’t know… BTW, you do look hot in your photo
January 20, 2005 at 12:26 pm #107041when in doubt dress in leather
January 20, 2005 at 1:54 pm #107042I always thought the mod look in the `80s was dress in black

A girl in my grade 8 class had the coolest mod look:usually always in ripped black clothes, heavy on the eye makeup, and the first day of school she had a fake parrot on her shoulder
everytime I hear Theresa`s Sound World by Sonic Youth I think of her.She was a really nice person too
January 20, 2005 at 3:04 pm #107043Sounds like a cool time

I’m thinking Emma Peel or Nancy Sinatra for the look. Knee high tight boots with mini dress/skirt, heres a couple links for research. I think the hair on the top left of the 1st link would be great on you…
I was a sort mod back in the day, plastic polka dot raincoat, cigarette pants, chelsea boots. I had this great pink beaded sleeveless mini dress with matching jacket…

You might want to check out London this w/e for some pleasing mod clothes, try Carnaby Street

cool dress from page 4 of the 2nd link, with some black leather boots, lots of black eye liner…

January 20, 2005 at 3:21 pm #107046another pleasing dress, those are cutouts in the middle, flash some skin, god I can be such a girl sometimes

January 24, 2005 at 4:37 pm #107051no cool dress was found in London…
I have a "Barbarella dress" out of glossy black cloth, so I guess this one has to do it…January 24, 2005 at 6:21 pm #107052If you want to check out some music try searching for Nothern Soul on SoulSeek. You should get a huge list of Kent or Trojan compilations, usually 20+ songs per disc, I’ve downloaded & burnt at least 70 discs for a friend of mine who just loves european mod culture/sounds.
Enjoy the show this w/e
