Well, if you follow the smoking trail there’s… the Green Mind album cover; J’s wife, Luisa smoking, on the back sleeve of Free So Free. I may have mentioned that I needed a cigarette after J.’s solo on Pick Me Up on night 2 at the Troubadour.

Yeah, I don’t like it much either. But talking with Lou earlier this year he said those shows paid bank. If I was in his postion I’d probably do it too. I guess as long as Camel keeps throwing money at them they’ll stay on tour and ultimately together. So thats a good thing.

This leg of the tour is sponsored by Camel Cigarettes. One of the legs earlier in the year (I believe with the Black Keys) was sponsored by Camel Cigarettes too.

It’s kind of lame corporate America is attaching itself to Indie royalty, but like I sad before I’d probably take the money too.

                    L. T. Smash: It’s a three-pronged attack. Sub-liminal, liminal and super-liminal.
                    Lisa: Superliminal?
                    L. T. Smash: I’ll show you. *Leans out of window* Hey, you! Join the Navy!
                    Carl: Uh, yeah, all right.
                    Lenny: I’m in!

Yeah kind of funny. If anyone wants to smoke they have to be 25′ from an entrance, and you can’t smoke inside public places. Lame deal for Camel, the tour probably included a show in Seattle before they signed on to sponsor it. Still there are plenty of people in this market who smoke. So the marketing dollars won’t totally be wasted.

Many years ago (10?) Juan heard an article on NPR that talked about tobacco free mutual funds. We went in to see the fellow that does our transactions and we asked about moving our mutual funds to tobacco free and he said "What for"…"That’s stupid"…………."your in this to make money right?" We didn’t move them…. The World Health Organization estimates 3 million deaths due to tobacco consumption per year. I still think that there is practically no way to ethically profit from others tobacco consumption/addiction, however, if you have money in any of the larger mutual funds….you are doing just that.
                          My two cents. :alien:

I just started smoking, Camels. They’re better than Marlboros. You could get some of them.

You know I was thinking about it, and I guess I don’t really care that Camel is involved w/ Dinosaur. Just as long as I don’t see J, Lou, or Murph sporting a Camel shirt or worse that jacket you get after smoking a million cartons. Because that would be lame.
