I think you just made my playlist for work tomorrow!Well, I would add a CD here, however.. yesterday, I was surprised to find out (first from a hockey website I frequent), then from radio-info.com that Los Angeles has a new radio station to compete with the 800 lb. gorilla that is KROQ..
Indie 103.1 FM.. I guess before XMAS, Dance 103 flipped to Alternative. Then on Monday, it went to no dj, no commercial indie. (Of course, the no dj and no commercial will change soon, but it is nice now.) Lots of stuff you would never hear on KROQ, and some classics as well (Clash, Cure, etc..).. Maybe now I can hear Modest Mouse on radio here in L.A. (I mean, it is weird to see the Nissan commercial, and not able to hear the song on the radio)..
2 problems with 103.1: 1) Lack of coverage. 103.1 is a shared signal from Santa Monica and Newport Beach. No real power. I live 5 miles from Newport, so I get it fine. But it begins to cut out in Long Beach. 2) It is owned by Clear Channel. I hate CC. However, I have to give them Kudos for trying to compete with KROQ (even though that is not the prime reason).
I would post the link to the website, but it seems to be in rework mode. It was up yesterday, then later it was down. It is still down, so I do not know if they are chaging it or not.. Oh, what the hell…. here it is, so when it works, they may have it streamed..
