-christmas gift from a friend. Makes it impossible for me to name the best releases from 02, ‘cuz this one’s so much better than anything I’ve heard in a long time. Maybe the best album I’ve ever heard.January 7, 2003 at 7:56 am #84911Robert-NMH`s Aeroplane Over The Sea is an amazing album,it blew me away when I first heard it 3 years ago;1945 is one the coolest songs ever, very Syd Barrett sounding; Two Headed boy is awesome as well, the Mountain Goats covered it too, though John screwed up the lyrics
I also like the bagpipes on one song too
January 7, 2003 at 8:34 am #84912Salami,
totally agree, the first 7 songs are etched into my ears and heart. it’s pure genious. the lyrics, the melodies. brilliant!
and what really bugs me is that this album has been out there for so many years without me hearing it -only Elephant 6 band that I’ve listened to is Apples In Stereo. Guess I’ve got a lot of albums to buy and look forward to. Ordered On Avery Island and the Jeff Magnum solo release earlier today.January 7, 2003 at 9:58 am #84913Oops,I meant Holland 1945;guess I was thinking about Social D
Jeff Tweedy from Wilco is a big fan of On Avery Island,he said it sounds like a lofi Kinks
