Welcome back!
That Angels Of Light album is`nt around here,I heard one song on the radio from it-"New York Girls" I think was the name of it.I have the previous album though-"New Mother" from 99,it`s brilliant, very dark the lyrics well written,Gira seems to be better then ever.I heard A Swans profile awhile ago, pretty impressive and scary music,Gira makes Trent Reznor look like Pat Boone!
If you can find a copy of New Mother check it out, there`s one tune-"Song For My Father" which is one of the most beautiful dark songs I ever heard.
Audiogalaxy problably has it in their satilite,so you may want to check it out there.Ole helped me the other day with AG so if you have any problems check out that thread in Geeky Tech Chat.
Have`nt heard the new Mercury Rev,I`ll check that out soon if they get it here.

Hey,

With all thats been happening listening to tunes has been a pretty good way to distract myself, still kinda hypnotized by the news though.

Sparklehorse…It’s a Wonderful Life, some great songs on here King of Nails is one of my current fav’s by them

New Race…The First and The Last…incredible sounds on this, Ron Asheton and Deniz Tek on guitar. Rob Younger and Warrick Gilbert from Radio Birdman and Dennis Thompson ex of MC5 on drums (they wanted Scott Rock Action Asheton from the Stooges but couldn’t do it) It was recorded live but the vocals were overdubbed at a later date, odd but apparently had to be done. They do a couple MC5 songs, Stooges, Destroy All Monsters and Radio Birdman…very cool songs done by some of the best around

Destroy All Monsters…Bored…Ron Asheton again on guitar, Niagara on vocals…yikes some great guitar songs, November 22nd, 1968, Meet the Creeper, and Nobocy Knows…WOW.

Also been listening to a bit of The New Christs, hot and cold on these guys Rob Younger from Radio Birdman on vocals. I got a really good song thou from an oz site awhile back it’s definitely on my playlist a lot…On Top Of Me…great song, listening to it right now

Allison

ps thinking of picking up that Mercury Rev this afternoon, thanks for the tip

Slow response here, but I’m wondering what’s going on with Swervedriver these days. I was really into them back when the tune Son of a Mustang Ford came out. Still love that one, but since I didn’t find the stuff they put out after that as hot, my interest faded and I haven’t checked them out in years. Wasn’t even aware that they’re still around. So, have I been missing out on something really good here?

I heard that Swervedriver is`nt over yet,so hopefully like Allison said they`ll turn up the volume like the old days.
That "These Times" song is cool, they mention the Stooges in it.

oh yeah, congrats on checking out the new Sparklehorse Allison,I still don`t have it yet(or the new Mercury Rev)but hopefully will get it soon if it`s here.It seems that myself,Palace Bro,and den buck are the only sparklehorse fans here so it`s glad to have someone else who likes them/him.

Thanks for the info about Swervedriver. Hope they do turn it up to sonic level again, cuz I really dug Raise too. Would be cool to have a really good english band to be into again. Not too many of those around these days IMHO.

Hey Maxini,

Raise is my fav Swervedriver, nothing they have done since that can match it in my opinion. My fav off Raise is Rave Down, hypnotizes me every single time. There are some pretty good songs on Mezcal Head (Blowin Cool, Harry & Maggie,Duress, Motorbike) and Ejector Seat Reservation (Ejector,The Other Jesus, How does it feel) though. 99th dream was the last release, not thrilled with it at all. Good single from that one was These Times but thats about it. Singer Adam Frankin put out a solo deal Toshack Highway, some good songs but just not sonic enuf for me. They are rumored to be starting to work on something, believe it when I hear it but hope they turn it up to sonic level again.

Here`s what I`ve been listening to recently:

Lush-Gala-Early 90`s shoegazing dream pop, something I always go back to.

Stooges-Funhouse-a classic!beyond classic!love the way the drums sound on this, the sax was a nice addition too.File under rock f**king roll.

Tom Waits-The Black Rider-not one of his best but still has some good tunes,William S Burroughs sings on one song, not much a singer, guess that`s why he stuck to spoken word.

File? Why would I wanna file away Funhouse somewhere when I can play it on and on, day in and day out, as it was put on this earth to be. A waste of filing space, much needed for lamer records, that’s what it’d be

actually I meant file as in category, which I don`t like anyway, the Stooges and MC5 belong in the stellar universe of powerful rock music.

Robert-YLT`s I can hear the heart… is a great album, love "Deeper Into Movies","Damage","Autumn Sweater","Stockholm Serenade" and their cover of the Beach Boys"Little Honda" is wicked.

Yeah, I think that might be my favourite YLT album, and also probably one of the best albums I’ve got. The mood of the album gets me everytime. The perfect soundtrack to an autumn. Think I’ll call it that from now on

yeah,it was the last album I listened to on New year`s eve in 99,the end of the millenium,so that`s the last album I heard of the past century.
I think Electro A Pura is my fav YLT album, problably because it was the first one I bought by them.
Yesterday when I was reading Allison`s link to the MC5 tribute, the site had staff picks and musician picks, someone mentioned YLT`s May I sing with me,which I like as well but the critics totally hate that album, every review I read was a diss,I`m glad at least someone agrees with me on that album is good.
