        You should
a)pack your bikes and go to Verbier in Switzerland. Great for 4X, downhill, and lots of great singletrack.
b)pack your bikes and go o Whistler, same as Verbier really.
c)go to Italy. Rent a car and drive around the countryside, eating good food, drinking good wine.
d)pack your bikes and go to Scotland for some of the best, though muddy at times, singletrack ever.
        e)go surfing in Costa Rica
f)come to norway, go hiking in the mountains, be amused by the love for english football teams, outraged by how much everything costs and be disgusted when someone offers you half a sheepshead for dinner.

hmmm … those surely sound like action-packed options …

i have been to norway … my husband + i went to bergen a few years ago + it was awesome …

+ amazingly it didn’t rain :o :D in fact it was wall-to-wall sunshine if you can believe it …

i’d like to go back to norway … but you’re right it was VERY expensive :o :o :o but very clean + the people were very cool too …

well, if my budget would allow it i would like to go back … maybe i could swing a long weekend …

          where would you suggest …

No rain in bergen..you have absolutely no idea how lucky you were :) And yes, it?s a great place, and I guess it must?ve been great with just sunshine. I?ve never experienced that myself.
I would?ve gone to the west/northwest part of the country. The area around stryn perhaps, wonderful nature, fjords, mountain, glaciers etc.
But I?m not sure late september, early october is the best time to visit that part of norway, I?d expect wheather like you wouldn?t belive it.
Perhaps best to save it for a summer sometime, when you can go skiing, cross country and alpine, in your underwear if you?d like.

….going to Switzerland, up in the mountains (Saas Fee) myself early September, been doing that the last couple of years, always had excellent weather, and lots of fun, you’re just outside the real summer holiday season. but everything is still open and there are still lots of people around… (at the end of september it’s really end-of-season up in these mountain villages, all of the cable cars/restaurants/bars shut down, preparing for the winter season…) Amother nice thing about Switzerland: the prices are still the same as about 5 years ago, which can’t be said about our Euro-countries…. ::)
