So, who will the next prez be and why?
Any other thoughts or opinions on the candidates you would like to share?

February 27, 2008 at 11:17 am #133037Well, Clinton can’t win against McCain, given his appeal for independent voters and her lack of appeal for anyone except for mainstream Dem partisans. My politics are well to the left of the Democratic party line, and while it’s imperative to me to keep as many Republicans out of office as possible, I still find Clinton odious enough to prevent me from voting for her. If she’s the candidate, I’ll probably write in Johnny Rotten. Obama has been exciting a lot of people, and has real appeal for independent voters, so he stands the best chance of defeating McCain. Plus, his policies — especially his approaches to foreign policy — are very different from McCain’s. That, combined with the obvious youth vs. age difference, and his energy vs. McCain’s doddering old man presence, present clear differences between the two candidates. Clinton is as hawkish as McCain, and they’re both consummate Washington insiders, so there’s not enough difference there to convince middle-of-the-road voters to hold their noses and vote for her. The Democratic party will shoot itself in the foot if it puts her up for the candidacy.
February 27, 2008 at 12:10 pm #133038I’m just so happy to see King Tubby, Tonas and Rambleon logged in on the same day………perhaps the hibernation period is over. I still haven’t gotten a reply to the question I asked a few days ago but I’m okay with that, it will happen eventually.
I think an Obama/Clinton ticket would be hard to beat. I would love to have another Leo for president (Obama).
February 28, 2008 at 12:48 pm #133039There’s no way Clinton would humble herself and accept a VP position. As someone remarked recently, Clinton entered the primary season like she was preparing for a coronation, not running a campaign. And there’s still enough anti-Clinton sentiment lingering in middle America to make her presence on the ticket a potentially fatal handicap for Obama. A lot of demoralized right-wingers who might sit out this election rather than vote for McCain would be instantly spurred to hold their noses and pull the lever for him if it meant keeping the Clintons out of the White House.
Speaking of M.I.A forum members, whatever happened to bettedavislies? I wonder if she ever met my former Rutgers colleague?

The dollar is turning to toilet paper right before our eyes. I shudder to think what tomorrow is going to bring to the stock market, just look whats happening in Japan right this minute over at the Nikkei, Most of Europe got the hell out of Dodge (American dollars/dow) over the course of the past few years, they saw the writing on the wall. The next president is going to be handed a big pile of crap………a ponzi scheme finally at it’s breaking point. I recently was reading about Ron Paul, and I was surprised he was running as a Republican but I could relate to most of what he was saying….I find out he is a Libertarian at heart….I don’t think he would ever make it into a position of being about to vote for him but I applaud him for having the courage to tell the truth on so many levels. Everytime I read about him or see a video on youtube, I think…..geez, holy smoke…this guys out there spilling the beans and very few seem to care. I think he knew he wouldn’t get far but he wanted to get the truth out for those who are ready for it…he ran for that reason alone. I think I’m really a Libertarian a liberal Libertarian.
Oh, oh if you have time check this out, it gives you some idea of Ron Paul’s bravery!!!!

Well, I guess we know who you’ve been talking to. As far as the fiscal thing goes: those who will be in trouble due to this recession will be in trouble and those who will profit from it will be laughing all the way to the bank and in your face. It’s that simple.
