What I can’t figure out these days are the pits that form in the back third of the crowd. I’ve always seen the front of the crowd — right in front of the stage — as the legitimate place for a pit, and the middle-to-back as a place where those who don’t feel like getting an elbow in the ribs or a boot to the head could chill and watch the show. But recently (not at the Dino shows, however) all the real pit action has whipped up towards the back. It’s really irritating. Not as irritating as the asshole skinhead "wall of death" that used to occur at hardcore shows in the late-80s. Bunch of bumwipes.
