Occasionally I pop into other Bullitan boards, to see whats happening. Generally they fall into two catagories:
1)Boards that zip along, and are possesed by a "messageboardfuckerupper" who makes an ass of himself by posting messages like "_____ is a shitty artist," "who here is a beastie," and "You guys are faggots"2) Boards that nobody uses.
Damn! I hit the post button too soon. But anyway, I was saying that this is one of the rare bbs’s that has an active community, but has not been hit by some 14 year old asswipe who has never heard of Dino Jr.

Have to agree with you here, we have been very lucky related to the quality of people who post here…no surprise given they are J Mascis fans <img> <img> <img>
Not saying we haven’t had any hot moments b/t members, thats gonna happen, but most conflicts are dealt with respectfully…which is a really nice change compared to some boards I’ve checked out.
But now that I’ve said that someone may just prove me wrong <img> But Hey!

Hey Malc, I just felt incredibly inclined to revive this thread of yours. I just came from the new Marilyn Manson website. It’s embarrassing. It moves along so fast, and no one can spell, and it is overrun with bored young kids with screennames like "darkangel" and "raven" and "blackcherry". Ugh. I am a big Manson fan, but I feel so conflicted about his official site. He’s such a bright man, and intense, and it’s sad to see so much stupidity abounding on the bbs there. No one has talked about anything even remotely stimulating, intellectually or otherwise. I don’t know whether to join in, and try to spice things up, or just detach. I find myself wondering if either would be beneficial to my dignity.
But yeah, after surfing around for a bit, I was reminded of your post here. I can’t place Dino above any of my other favorite bands, but the community here is wonderful. This has been my only positive and long-term involvment in any such community on the net. FS is as much about us as it is about J’s music.
Just wanted to thank you for posting this. You guys are all the best.

RosaRosa, I have the same thing going on with Weezer. Like the band, hate the fan. But then Weezer fans appear to hate Rivers anyway. Weird.

Agree about some boards being absolutely frightening, a Sparklehorse board I visited was just like you described the Manson bb…a real waste of my time and not the good kind! But there are some cool Chicago BEARS boards out there, Bob Mould just reopened his bb service which is cool (in spite of the mega mega album <img> ) But Hey! I had things thrown at me and was kicked by a six year old at my real job last nite…whoa that sucked…so hmmm wonder why I like this place so much <img> <img> <img>
But like I said not all that surprising given we are all Mascis fans <img>

I agree too on other msg boards are`nt as great as this one,I tried hanging around on a couple of others but did`nt like the other fans much or the way the board was set up.This BBS is as perfect as it gets I think,we`re very lucky.
Allison-sounds like that 6 year old could use some Hellacopters treatment to get his or her frustration out <img>No doubt some Hellacopters would have been a cool thing, was able to hypnotize the six year old
once he ran out of toys to throw. Good kick to my hand thou, big bruise , his huge snake toy cut my hand as well:eek: He wanted to stay up all nite and talk after I got him laughing… <img>That Sparklehorse board was the one thru hollywood&vine, lots of not so charming people telling each other off etc….no thanks. Gotta agree about the ease of using this board though, part of the thrill of it all, altho Rosa’s right about the tall guy rearranging things all the time <img> <img> <img> But like I said thats part of the coolness of it all <img>
