With J having a baby and having been all over the place and places like NY about 12 times in 2 years are they done? I have heard from one source there will be more shows in November, I guess around the DC show, but another said J is starting up with Witch soon and that album will be out in March. If they did continue, there are still a lot of options. They could play more with bands like the lemonheads, juliana hatfield, mudhoney, sonic youth, and the rumored reunion of My Bloody Valentine. They could cover some states they haven’t been in a while, or play more college festivals to get the youth. And they have a ton of songs they could still play. Like 3 from the new album they haven’t played. Cats in a bowl, let it ride, keep the glove, more "don’t", and a couple later era songs like what else is new or blowing it. Heck they record a little ep in a couple months in a weekend and release it and have another couple more songs. Just my 2 cents.
September 17, 2007 at 2:40 pm #131889I think they all could use a rest, but I can’t see them burning this bridge, just yet. Leave the old & new fans wanting more & come back with an encore in the (hopefully near) future. I hope this old newbie didn’t just jinx it!
September 17, 2007 at 3:03 pm #131890I think a rest would be good, and come back in feb, with like an ep like whatever’s cool with me after the initial green mind tour.
September 17, 2007 at 3:17 pm #131891I hope they don’t break up before playing near me. I think they need a rest. They also need to do other projects, like sebadoh, lou solo, witch, mabe j and the fog and stuff, and lou needs to do another record.
September 17, 2007 at 4:38 pm #131892Yeah I’m all for a new Sebadoh record while J works on Witch stuff. Then the bands can tour for about a year or so. Then Dinosaur can get back together to write a new record, and it will be fresh again because they spent a year or so apart. Its a perfect plan!
September 17, 2007 at 4:52 pm #131893Great! It’s all settled then. Can you call the guys, tonas, and let them know?
September 17, 2007 at 5:37 pm #131894They’ll probably be busy doing family albums
September 17, 2007 at 6:29 pm #131895I’d be plenty happy to see them take a break for a year or so, especially since it’s apparent that they’ve settled into playing a standard set of old tunes and just a handful of the new ones. Over and over. And over and over. I wish J would regroup the Schools/Spence Fog and go out and play lots of stuff he hasn’t played since the Dino reunion.

September 18, 2007 at 9:26 am #131897The accident happened during more light. They played a lot of free so free.
September 18, 2007 at 9:52 am #131898I lived under a stone for a couple of years.
September 18, 2007 at 10:49 am #131899I was talking with Dave (one of Dinosaurs road crew guys) and I said the same thing. I told him I liked the idea of the Fog because J could plug in who ever and go. I was telling him how I would love to see J with Dan Peters drumming. I think that would rock.
Dave was saying he worked one of the Fog tours and said he didn’t think it was as good as these Dinosaur tours. And that if J was going to work with Dan Peters it probably would have happened by now.
Still it would be cool to hear new Fog stuff though I think Dinosaur is more J’s avenue now. I think he’ll put his energy into fatherhood and messing around with Witch. Then when Witch gets old, or he has a new batch of songs written…. its Dinosaur time again.
September 18, 2007 at 12:05 pm #131900Well, it’s always best to make hay while the sun is shining…right. Sweeny told me the same thing… that is that these Dinosaur shows are rocking hot (not his exact words but same meaning) He said they were all enjoying themselves! I don’t know personally but intuition tells me things changed when sweeny and spence left the Dinosaur machine (as techs). I could see/feel the change from fun to something else….I think the stolen equipment was the beginning of the change…. sort of the foreshadowing. If you watch this version of Alone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRH9Da8bpm4 RRH9Da8bpm4, I also don’t play guitar nor am I interested in any guitar accessories but J was starting to take his playing to a new level…something very different. He was doing that kind of Hendrix channeling in this video and see the others from that same tour, see AMMARING http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r64KWte8kwU r64KWte8kwU, that’s one of the best Ammarings I have ever seen and I have seen a couple. This one is Everybody lets me down, this freakin rocks, again it is one of the best versions I have ever seen live, ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N2LQiHqJPM&mode=related&search= 0N2LQiHq … ed&search= If you look at J in these videos is is very obvious he is not doing that protective posturing that he does with Dinosaur Jr. where he is hiding behind his hair with his chin down, with the Fog his shoulders and chest are wide open, he is not in that defensive formation, why? His singing is flowing much easier than it does now, why? You can see he is more relaxed, why? I’m glad J is playing with Lou but this is what happens when you put a fire sign with a water sign for long periods of time, IMHO, I found out recently that Lou’s wife is a Leo, Good Gosh, I would love to be a fly on the wall for that one. That is a notoriously difficult combination. God bless them for hanging in there. I’m not saying that fire and water can’t coexist it just takes a lot out of you. Dave Schools is born the day after (or the day before J) I can
t remember, but fire signs have a natural affinity, the sort of understand each other on some level. With Dinosaur Jr. the songs, I like them, but when you see them live, you know where they are going before they even get going. They follow a fairly straight formula all the way to the end. They don’t have the organic flow that the Spence/Schools fog had. I make quilts and there is a big difference when you sew by hand verses when you sew with a machine. Hand sewn quilts are much more valuable because they have that intrinsic feel that comes with each stitch being unique unlike a machine quilting which produces something that feels more uniform and yet less warm.
I had to modify, as usual, geez, when watching the Ammaring above, around 1:32 or so, that that sucked in lip, that is a focused relaxed body move, many of us tend to do that when we are driving in traffic, focused but not stressed and it’s followed by a hand scratch, that’s so relaxed, that’s like, I don’t know, Britney Spears at the Videos awards last week.
September 18, 2007 at 4:41 pm #131901yeah. ammaring is one of the best songs… it is nice to see the old band back together. it would also be nice to hear the free so free songs.
September 19, 2007 at 7:53 am #131902Enough about that… When are they gonna break out live into a rendition of REBEL REBEL?
