Me and my boyfriend really love Witch and I was playing with his T Rex Mudhoney (a little out of my price range atm) and I got a similar vintage-y metal sound through my Sunn and an SG. Are there any similar pedals that can give me that sound for a lesser price? I was thinking a Rat or even a Metal Muff (Those rock!) But yeah, for anyone wondering I play an SG and Strat thru a Sunn.

I wish i could help but thats the first i’ve heard the mudhoney mentioned. I saw it at the guitar store a couple weeks ago behind glass, no display model and was wondering what it was. Is it just another distortion, albeit an expensive one?

^^ yeah the T-Rex Mudhoney is just another distortion, it’s not a clone of a Big Muff though. I thought it was at first as it was called Mudhoney and they are notorius Big Muff users but I spoke to someone from T-Rex a couple of years ago at a guitar show and he told me it wasn’t based on a Big Muff

I think you’ll get close with an EH Big Muff, I think that’s what Witch use for their tone, you can pick them up nice and cheap.

Big Muffs are alright… yeah. But they don’t seem too versatile.
But really, if you want a damn good botique (sp?) fuzz then get the Mudhoney. It’s NOT just another distortion.
I got a Voodoo Labs Superfuzz. It’s pretty great. It preserves guitar tone better than a Big Muff with better highs and lows, even. Plus it can get heavier than a Big Muff, if you need it to.
