writing in the style of dinosaur?

hey guys im starting to write my own songs and want to write songs in a similiar style to dinosaur jr, so i was wondering if there is any chords, scales, techniques, progression etc that j commonly uses that will help me to get a similiar sound. any help would be greatly appreciated.

the most common one in J’s arsenal is G D C. like the lung. for soloing, G major, I guess.

Youve probably noticed, J writes lyrics very broad, and they can relate to many things.

i agree about writing for yourself, but i just want to know how he writes stuff so it can help me develop my own style, i was talking more about guitar then lyrics.

Just play what sounds good.
Use j’s playing like you would if you were a painter or even an mma fighter. Undertsand and learn the style and then incorporate it into your game, but don’t ape it.
