Pearl Jam ’45, "Who Killed Rudolph"; one of the first singles issued through the fan club (which I never joined). I got it at a Rhino Records store in upstate NY that has long since closed. Paid $8 for it; saw it go for $70 on eBay.
Mike Watt double LP (see-through blue), "Ball Hog or Tugboat". Don’t know if this is really rare, but damn if it isn’t the coolest piece of vinyl I’ve ever seen. And of course, a great album. Got it in another record store that is now closed, in Bennington, VT.
Dinosaur, "Dinosaur" on tape. Yay! Some really cool guy on eBay sold it to me for $12. I was psyched, not only because all my other Dino (studio) albums are on tape, but also because it is "sans Jr".
Flat Duo Jets, "White Trees", tape. Second Jets album I bought; out of print. One of my favorite albums by far. Cool store in Virginia, outside of D.C. Everyone should listen to the Flat Duo Jets.
The Frogs, "Racially Yours", Amoeba Records, Berkeley. A lot of stores refused to carry this one; couldn’t even find it online anywhere.
Pearl Jam, "Eddie’s House". My sis got this bootleg tape for me…don’t remember where (sorry). A great, crappy recording of the guys goofing around at what sounds like a house party. Includes a great, crappy cover of a Van Halen’s "Runnin with the Devil".
January 30, 2002 at 3:30 pm #68297Soundgarden-Screaming Life EP on red vinyl for 25 dollars on Ebay, seen it go for 150 because it’s Soundgarden’s first release (i think) and one of Sub Pop’s first too.
Dinosaur Jr-Dinosaur autographed. Can’t really tell who signed it besides J and Murph, but it’s cool cause it’s their first cd and i got it for 30 bucks.
Screaming Trees-Change Has Come (cd and vinyl double 7 inch) Awesome ep with some great songs. Way out of print and only on Ebay. Come to think of it the only rare stuff i get is from Ebay. I live in Northern Virginia and there are hardly any good stores… where’s the one you refer to Rosa?
January 31, 2002 at 12:41 pm #68298Rosa-the Flat Duo Jets are cool, like their music alot,I bought Lucky Eye awhile ago, have`nt seen any of their older albums around here but I`m on the lookout for them.Launch.com had the video for Radioactive Man,not sure if they still have it,you might want to check that out.
January 31, 2002 at 10:46 pm #68299Hey Tree- I don’t remember the name of the town in Virginia, but my spies are checking on it for me <img>
Salami- Check out "Safari" by the Jets. It’s a good sampler of their work; lots of cover songs, and some originals, recorded from "previously unissued lo-fi cassettes" <img> Dex’s first solo album, "Folk Songs", is also excellent. If you want, I can burn a cd for ya; just send a PM my way.
Pity that band broke up shortly after I saw them live. Hey, the same thing happened with Dino…I must have the ticket hand of band death or something….

March 6, 2002 at 10:48 pm #68301Thought up a few more cool finds from over the years;at a used book/clothing store,found these:
Scarce-Red ep;Rhode Island band I like alot,6 songs from the 3 singles they did.
Locus Solus-Waverly;Nashville indie band, asked RJ once if he heard of them, guess they were`nt that well known, interesting album.
Supersnazz-Superstupid;Japanese girl punk band, kinda Shonen Knife but more aggresive
Zen Arcade tribute:various artists;Husker Du`s album redone by Minneapolis bands, some good, some suck, one interesting track is Big Trouble House covering Turn On The News country style.
Come-Don`t Ask Don`t Tell;Boston band that I like alot,singer/guitarist Thalia Zedek sang with J on 3 songs on Without A Sound.
Ride-Nowhere;British shoegazer band in the vein of MBV.
Cocteau Twins-Heaven Or Las Vegas;first album I bought by them
Bob Mould-Black Sheets Of Rain;the first solo album of his that I bought
Lucinda Williams-Sweet Old World;great album with a Nick Drake cover song at the end.
Syd Barrett-Opel-compilation of unreleased odds and ends,he was Pink Floyd`s original singer/guitarist before he lost his mind. -
