Quote:Grant Hart, ex-Husker Du, to Play Solo Show, Unveil Art
Zachary Herrmann
February 16, 2007
Drummer and songwriter Grant Hart (of Minneapolis-legends Husker Du) will perform at the Zone Gallery in Kansas City, MO on Friday, March 2. His rare solo performance will be part of an art gallery showing entitled Grant Hart: 20 Masterpieces of Modern Art, featuring Hart’s visual works. The Dada-influenced art collection will include pieces ranging from Hart’s earlier collages to his more recent projects.
Only 17 years old when he co-founded Husker Du in 1979 with Bob Mould and Greg Norton, Hart designed all of the band’s award-winning visual art under a pseudonym. Husker Du gained revered cult-status throughout the 80s, inspiring many of the musicians, specifically Uncle Tupelo, who would forge the “No Depressionâ€

Quote:Dinosaur Jr haven’t missed a beat while recording their new album Beyond. The band has posted two new tracks, "Almost There" and "Been There All The Time" from their forthcoming album, due May 1st on Fat Possum.love that guitar J has

Did Dino and their people approve?…Just wonderin’….I downloaded all the songs and I remember the excitement of getting the new cd was ruined by already knowing the tunes. Since then I always try to wait for the proper release but you know how that works (I already heard 4 tracks from beyond. Two by accident "myspace").hehe, I remember that, think it was on the site feb or march 2000…

can’t really remember the whole story though, think it was taken down early march
Quote:It only took one second into "Been There All The Time" and I knew Dinosaur, Jr was back, and back in top form. All I needed to hear I heard in that first second — Murph attacking the drum kit like a young man from New England with something to prove, and that first heavy, sludgy blast out of J’s guitar.Of course, there’s more to "Been There All The Time" than that first second. After all, their forthcoming release, Beyond, is the first new Dinosaur, Jr recording in ten years, and the first to feature the original Dinosaur, Jr lineup of J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph since 1988’s Bug. Since Dinosaur, Jr have been active on the Alternative Rock reunion circuit for a while now, following another Amherst band, The Pixies, in earning some much overdue paychecks, there is the nagging concern that the reunion album is nothing more than a money grab. I’d answer that worry with a title from their back catalog, "I Don’t Think So."
"Been There All The Time" rocks with a passion that would be hard to fake. I haven’t heard solos like this coming out of J’s guitar since 93’s Where You Been. They’re big, loud, fuzzy, wailing, epic, and emotive blasts from rock ‘n’ roll’s past. Additionally, for a band that’s always played it loose and loud, and for a band who haven’t recorded together in nearly 20 years, they sound remarkably tight. Then, consider the fact that Barlow and Mascis didn’t exactly have an amicable separation after the initial split, and it’s all the more impressive that they’ve come back rockin’ this hard. Man, that release day of May 1st can’t come soon enough.

No idea why it’s more acceptable then. Apparently whoever was in the band’s management got their account yanked as well. Was that you Jeremiah?obviously a lot of different opinions on the realities of sharing music online, different countries have different laws, cool to see people can disagree, respectfully. Quote:Me- What about Napster? What do you guys think about that issue?Mascis- Well my first feeling was whatever Metallica was against, I was for (laughs). But really, I’m all for it.
Watt- I’m for it.
Me- What about the arguement that it takes away from record sales?
Watt- I don’t make my money from album sales. I make my money from gigs. I think the songs on Napster are like flyers for the shows.
George- Yea, it’s a no brainer, just think the opposite of Metallica. I’m all for Napster.
Me- You guys want to say anything in closing.
George- Just make us look cool man.
not sure thats the case with leaks though, the above quote related to reposting the album link post release date kinda makes sense then. Not sure how indie music distributors/websites or stores feel about that though, not sure how Dino management or band feel about it, just my spin on the leak & post release date file sharing. I’m with Fata related to pre release posting of music.
but again it could be just some lame alien doing some sort of sims game with us, lots of buzz out there about Dinosaur…most good which is always cool. Hope they all come thru & buy the disc, support the tour & hopefully some great merch…I want bobbleheads

for the alien thing I recommend this, just in case…afdb
