Even more so, that some who’s been avid supporters of downloading albums in the past suddenly are having second thoughts just because the album happens to be released by dino.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to pick a fight, and I’m confident that fans who download it now, will buy the album when it’s released.I think you may have overlooked the distinct difference between a leaked, pre-release date download vs post release downloads. Post release some bands seem to have accepted it’s gonna be out there no matter what, pre release, in my opinion they own what they produced, thats where my harm reduction deal comes into play…

I feel for Fat Possum as well, have seen posts by online promotion team of Fat Possum requesting all full album links be taken down & give permission to post a song. Put forward the case that leaks like this do hurt bands & Fat Possum. Some blogs have links to the whole album, request fans listen, delete the songs in 24 hrs & buy the disc…although it doesn’t look like they all follow their own advice.

As someone said above, couple months before release date leaks seem to be the standard these days. Hopefully management teams have contingency plans in place, seems like the case here.
Dinosaur Jr have been great with the fans, partnering with sites like this one & Free So Free, no problems with video or audio recording at shows. Lets hope it continues…on both sides of the artist/fan deal

Canadian courts haven’t allowed any downloaders to be sued, yet…http://www.slyck.com/story1393.html”>http://www.slyck.com/story1393.html

Apparently whoever was in the band’s management got their account yanked as well. Was that you Jeremiah?Ray Neades did an interview with J & The Fog years ago, they talked about downloading etc, think I remember the quote ‘whatever metallica’s against I’m for’. Sounds to me like they understand the file sharing madness after the release, out of their control for the most part, has it’s benefits as well I guess…getting the music out there, at least thats what I got from the article, can’t say for sure. Think Watt mentioned he makes more cash when people buy discs at shows…
so yeah, I’m definitely buying the disc from fat possum, the single as well, gonna buy a couple at the shows I go to as well…reacquaint some pals with Dino

ps->I am so looking forward to hearing these songs live…no doubt will be a thrill!

I’ve done the leg work to confirm.

Wicked song

MONty Python-Spam Song
I’m with you on that, but the cats out of the bag, & I doubt it’s going back. Not advocating anyone download it, just using a harm reduction strategy of sorts to try & diminish the sharing & non buying frenzy that can happen.
btw, all links to downloads of songs posted on freakscene without the express permission of dinosaur jr provided to us will be removed until further notice, if you actually have permission from the band or label please understand we need confirmation 1st, then your link will be replaced..

I’ve worked with both victims & predators, if I had kids I’d find a way to get some sort of gps tag into their bodies, educating kids about predators is a must!widgets are annoying , thanks for the explanation

leaning more and more to the mac deal, thanks for all the suggestions

more than a few really enjoy the leaked disc, lets hope everyone does the ethical thing when it comes out…buy a couple, give them away to convert the masses to Dino madness
Quote:First thoughts about the new Dinosaur Jr. record…Yes. Yes. Y-E-S. Dinosaur Jr. is back with Beyond – Fat Possum on May 1st. I was initially scared… very scared. I mean, getting the gang back together after a long, ugly break-up has the potential for a disasterbacle. First, you hear all their gear gets looted. Then you hear that Nike is putting out a horrible purple Dinosaur Jr high top. These seemed like signs to me. Purple hightops, people caring about the band, losing gear, 30 foot wall of flame. All signs of the 2pacolypse. I mean, wasn’t this the same band that no one every really liked? Then, we talked to Lou, and he was in love the record and more importantly, the process. What can we say, it was infectious.
Dinosaur Jr. was an interesting bag for me. My friend Goose (named after Gossage) was huge into the band, and gave me some discs (I fell in love with Bug and You’re Living All Over Me), but it was years after they had already created their best material. In Halifax, you more or less waited for the Wedge to come on to see that kick ass video, Feel the Pain, but in your heart you knew it wasn’t their best work. I mean, Lou had been kicked out of the band for years and J was pretty well running a one man press.
Well, I finally got to hear the record and was not let down in the slightest. Lou and J are back. The record is like comfort food. Huge guitars, and J still decides he needs to rip off 45 second solos. Oh – and lots of sweet, sweet noise. This record could have been dropped into their catalog seamlessly, but it’s not like the songs sound dated at all. After a few listens, I’m pleasantly surprised. We’re Not Alone is a slice of mastery.
Full review will come after I have time to soak it all in, but any fan should be excited
"disappearer " wrote:Apologies for posting it, was going to take it down in about 20 mins or so for whoever didn’t have OiNK.Again, sorry.
Oh, and it fucking ROCKS.

glad you understand, no doubt people can find it out there if they need to, don’t forget to buy a couple discs when it comes out

just for future reference, any posts linking to a download of the new disc will be removed, Dinosaur Jr provides us with all kinds of legal access to downloads thru freesofree.net.
Appreciate that people want to hear the new disc, just don’t post a link on freakscene…don’t think thats asking to much.
people don’t usually allow themselves to become unglued, sometimes it just happens, have to wait & see what the case is, prejudging based on limited info helps nobody, especially her kids.
theres a lot of sad shit, a lot more than kids being hungry, doubt she was worring about her career on that drive.
Not sure what you meant in an earlier post about worrying about male bus drivers…
"everyonelovesjaron " wrote:I downloaded it. It initially leaked to oink. It was upped at 320kbps so it’s not a "shitty quality leak" at all.I will refrain from commenting on the songs since I don’t want to ruin the suprise for anyone but if someone starts a "SPOILER ALERT: let’s discuss Beyond" thread, I’ll take part.
strange, I remember you being anti file sharing…who are you really

but yeah, leaks happen, guess all I can suggest is if you do download it…buy it as well, buy 2…the japanese version may have extra songs. Also, remove it from your shared folder to decrease the non buying madness that happens.
