Hey,

I sound like a few of you guys above, not tech books but always checking out new books, articles, journals about the work I do…gotta stay current!!! Actually some pretty interesting stuff but hey guess its a good thing I like what I do.

Recent road trip brought a very easy to read book…Dead Men Do Tell Tales by William R Maples and Michael Browning. Forensic Anthropologist going over some of his cases…murder mysteries at the most horrifying level. Hmmmm guess thats why I was so paranoid at the hotel, in the small towns we stopped in…go figure

Hey DFK,

Sorry there should have been a "local"before the bands thing. Tons of punk bands around here covered The Monkees and Cheap Trick…pretty fun times.

Hey guys,

Update on the currency exchange, just back from the bank…cost $153 Canadian for $100 US…OUCH.

Oh well, like I said what can you do…move to the US sounds like a plan.

Hey Salmiguy,

Hope to have a whole bunch to post about in a couple of days. ELJ I wish the Canadian dollar was that strong, sadly it is worth less than .60 American. What can you do though…

Hey Spaceboy,

I think he has been working on some secret brain experiments as well, my powers of influence are not working!!! He may have perfected the neural block I have been thinking about, only way to withstand my hypnosis/brainwashing techniques

Interesting to see how he survives this road trip…may forget the headphones..

Hey Spaceboy,

You got it, sorta reminds me of that Beavis and Butthead dance…just plain silly
Have actually had to find another laundromat because of that silly little dance.

Agree Modest Mouse are amazing, if only Voodoo Guy could get it…he just can’t.

Hey,

Here is my current top fav’s

The Flaming Lips…Clouds Taste Metallic
Some great songs on this one..no surprise though. Evil Will Prevail, Kim’s Watermelon Gun, When You Smile and Psychiatric Exploration Of The Fetus With Needles are the stand out tracks for me on this one.

Sugar…File Under Easy Listening…as usual Bob Mould writes amazing pop tunes. Could listen to Gee Angel a zillion times without getting tired of it. I have an acoustic version of Believe What Your Saying..very cool. Sugar has always been associated with driving somewhere else fast for me….going on a roadtrip in about 40 hrs so prepping with this one.

Motor City Burning…Compilation with kick tunes from 1968-1998…includes songs by The Stooges, MC5, The Up, Sonics, Ramones, The Sillies, The Mutants and many more. The Rationals are pretty cool as well.

Ramones Anthology….can’t help myself so many great songs…another great one for roadtrips…

Iggy…New Values..great disc, not many can croon like Iggy…gotta love that. Angel, Five Foot One, New Values and Tell Me A Story just kill me every time.

Modest Mouse…the lonesome crowded west…amazing songs. Convenient Parking, every time I hear this song I have to do this stupid little dance…getting embarassing Other stand out tracks include Doin the Cockroach,Polar Opposites, Out of Gas and Truckers Atlas.

One of my guilty pleasures was napster…rip…I hope to find this ep on my roadtrip…The Hellacopters Disappointment Blues. Long Gone Losers…think I will just burn this song to disc 35 times, don’t want to break the discman playing this song over and over again. The way they kick it back into the second verse..WOW. Disappointment Blues is very cool as well, just not as cool as LGL.

Jebus, good call on the fact that we get tons of great tips about music from everybody on this site. Glad to hear your strong enuf within yourself to not give a *$#* about what others think of what you listen to…whatevers cool with you is cool.

Hopefully this roadtrip will result in tons more discs to listen to…may have another 5 or more by friday…no doubt!!!

Hey,

That looks like it was a bit of work, thanks for the effort.

I have always been amazed by the amount of music pretty much everyone on the board listens to. Quite the list of fav’s that’s for sure.

Hey,

I think its hard for anyone to understand a persons specific guilty pleasure thing. A lot of times the song/group is related to an event/person thats means something specific to me….ie personal context.

I agree with defduck that people just don’t get it, but should they??? Fact is if it makes you happy or you remember some specific memory/feeling related to a song…thats very cool just difficult to share.

Definitely agree nobody has anything to be embarrassed by listing anything they listen to.

Allison

ps….I was just joking around with salamiguy, sorry about not being clear about that

Hey Salamiguy,

Tried to download that song this am, thing stalled on me but will try again later.

Really glad I didn’t offend you with my teasing/joking around about the bg thing.
I am a smart ass at heart, sometimes difficult to control that. Basically my friends and I tease each other mercilessly, all good natured though so nothing nasty. Forgot that its difficult to convey that thru posts to a bbs…even with tons of cool smilies. So to those that thought I was being a big meanie..all apologies for not being clear about my joking around
