"crazycloud " wrote:hey could you get me a finish army jacket?? ( a lighter one) i would pay nice for one, or i could send some cool american stuff to you… i could sew patches on it and be superpunk!!! hell yeah! you like vinyl;?
I don’t have an army jacket and it is quite hard to steal one. So the only way for you to get a jacket is to buy one from internet. There is a shop that sells official army clothing through their webpage. The jacket you mean is probably the m91 that I’m wearing on the picture. You can buy one like that only including pants and that makes 155€(196,45 USD) +shipping. To me it sounds quite expensive, but if you want I can translate the page to you for ordering and other info.

"Robert " wrote:*raises hand* I do. I wholeheartedly agree. Tuborg is the way to go if you want danish beer. I think carlsberg is tailored to suit the american market, as I find most american beer to taste….nothing.Yepp, Tuborg is on a whole another level compared to Carlsberg.
I’m too lazy to start a new topic about whisk(e)ys, and this is the "when out on town" -topic. So what do you think about the waters of god?

-Johnny Walker -labels. I think the Johnny Walker blended series is all high quality, even the red label which is not so expensive. I don’t know if I was all hyped up about tasting the blue label, which is the finest johnny w., but it was great maybe the best I’ve tried(sooo smooth). Atleast the best blended.
-Laphroaig. I’ve only tasted the 10 years old single malt and that was great.
-Glenfiddich 12 yrs. Also a good one!-Balvenie. I’m not really sure about the exact name or age of this whiskey, but it was also a really smooth experience.. Hopefully I get to try it again!
-Jack Daniels. I don’t think this tastes especially good, but drinking it feels like being Axl Rose, who drank one bottle a day during his ‘wild years’…

That Dinosaur Jr & Tampa skate thing would have been "just like heaven"..

Remembering which beer is good is quite hard, the better it is the more you drink it and so on. But when you are out drinking only one(1!) beer there are some favourites.
-Franziskaner dunkel along with many other beers from Bayern.
-Paulaner
-Sandells
-Olvi/Lapin Kulta
-Zipfer(Austria)By the way, does anyone agree with me about Carlsberg being the most overrated beer in the world? I think it is like beer with water or something and even if it’s ice cold, it still tastes as warm beer.

I hate the song in my avatar. It was playing on repeat the first day in army. I still remember fetching endless amounts of equipment and clothing with that stupid "you are in the army now, whooa whooa, you are in the army now" playing in the background…
"Robert " wrote:I spent my 12 months way up north in the special forces. Most of the time I was inside a tank. More than anything else it was like a boys club on a field trip, except that we lived in 40 ton of armored steel and rarely ate or slept.Hehe, I remember tanks. We had a "lazer-war" against them in december… They are quite scary when the ground shakes etc. After that we got to get up on the tanks and test how it is being up there when it drives at full speed. That was cool!
"crazycloud " wrote:i hated it due to the assholes in charge, and the fact they can ship you off to whrever any time they want… im curious to know what the finish army uniforms look like! you should post a picture of you in your uniform…. do you get to do ski training lke they did in world war II?… that would be cool"Assholes in charge", I agree with you on that. I noticed that the people on highest positions, the people I never saw, were quite nice, but the ‘little bosses’ I had to work with every day were assholes.
The Finnish army uniforms(marine) are ugly and I feel sorry for everyone that is forced to wear them… Now, I have joined myspace.com and uploaded a picture there, http://www.myspace.com/sotaavaan. I should get a real ftp-server or something where to upload files. Btw, what’s the deal with this myspace? Already got some random friend, wtf….?

I’m happy that there wasn’t enough snow to do that skiing… The skiis are terrible, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were from the second WW. You use rubber shoes with them. I’m sure they aren’t the most comfortable shoes for skiing..

Hmm.. That’s sick. Actually I got to pay for a hat and a pair of gloves that got stolen from me in the army. They weren’t expensive, but I hated to pay for The Defence Forces which first forced me to army and to have responsibilty of stuff that didn’t belong to me
"rosa " wrote:A lot of poor kids in our country get suckered into joining because of the promise of "free education" but the rules are very, very sneaky and dirty (and often not adequately disclosed). Our government doesn’t give a shit about screwing the working class and the poor, as evidenced by both domestic and international practices. Domestically there are very few resources for the poor, and people like my mom (a social worker) who do the most important social work are scantly rewarded– the government has zero empathy for the poor and therefore doesn’t recognize the importance of supporting social programs. Internationally we send our poorest, most vulnerable, and least intelligent (NOT necessarily one and the same) children to die in war. As a friend of mine once said, it’s our peasants killing their peasants.I think class warfare and ethnic warfare are the two most important crises roiling about in the U.S. Eventually people are not going to tolerate the way money and privilege are condensed at the top of the economic food chain, and things might very well combust.
It isn’t fair when people who got no money have to go to war if they wan’t to study. In Finland we got ‘almost free’ education, which isn’t perfect but quite good. Otherwise I probably couldn’t afford my studies.
I asked about the wages for soldiers in USA(or anywhere else, Sweden or Norway?). I meant conscripts/recruits. Does anyone know?
By the way, did you know that Jimi Hendrix was an airborne soldier? That was something totally new to me. Saw it in a Jimi -document a couple of days ago.

To get to do the weapon-free thing I had to lie and say that I could not think of any hypothetic circumstances under which I would be able to kill another human being. Of course I could easily think of such circumstances, but I failed to see the logic in realising that in principle such a situation might exist should imply that you have no choice but to spend a big part of your life learning how to kill other people, likely to be trained by some asshole who calls collective punishment "training".I’ve got some friends in Sweden who told me it is easy to say no to army. One can say he has a bad knee or another problem without being obliged to prove it medically.
"crazycloud " wrote:i joined the u.s. navy out of high school , so i could see the world, and get out of the minimum wage job i was working… it was hard work, but you dont have to kill anyone.. once out of training thouhg, i realized i hated it, and quit … So I could go to more rock n roll shows.. It cant be that bad though, at lease, out fuher over here didnt get finland to join in this iraq bullshit.. that would suck.. i hope you can get it behind you as soon as possible, and get back to skateboarding..Is it true that the United States support your studies if you join the army? Does the state pay University semesters or something? Btw, how much is the average monthly wages in the army over there? In Finland you get 3.60€ a day(=4USD) which is as good as nothing. I guess the proffessional army is better paid.
Actually I tried skateboarding.. Duh, 1,5 years pause really has an effect on how well you stand on the board… But it was quite fun anyway.

EDIT: yes, it does exist, no wait -I was thinking of the live CBGB acoustic album. The berlin one is up at freesofree.
Hey! It’s been a while since I last time browsed these forums. Atleast a year. Seems like this Dinosaur Jr re-union didn’t remain as a little tour, which is nice. The DVD is not yet in the markets? They have been making it for quite a while now… I think there was a release date a year ago.

My last year passed by quite fast. In the spring I had a lot of studies and right after that I went to the army. I had 2 weeks real vacation during the whole year. Now when I got out of the military service there should be time for more interesting things!

How was 2006 for you and other freakscene people? What’s the biggest news last year?
Another Girl Another Planet:
Thanks for the link. Now downloading…Hellacopters is a band that I’ve known by name for ages, but never have tried to listen at. Now I’m wondering why I never checked them out before. Well, I guess their recordings don’t dissapear anywhere from shops or internet.
It would have been much cooler with a skateshoecompany to produce dinosaur jr shoes instead of nike(sure, Nike is a skateboarding shoe company today, but does not have the "dinosaur, rock style". Nike skateboarding is more hip hop.). I think Misfits has a design shoe on Vans, which fits more to the vans-picture.
Whatsoever, the shoes look really terrible and there is no way I would buy them. Who mentioned Dinosaur Jr golf balls? Is there a picture of them in internet?
"Another Girl Another Planet " wrote:J Mascis-Live in Berlin 2006What? Does an album like that exist? Or is that from freesofree.net?
I’ve been listening to Hellacopters – Rock N Roll is dead and Neil Young – Reactor lately.
Wolf Parade – I’ll believe in anything
…and all of their other songs too

I would guess it is an Electric Misstress.
I’m using an ibook g4. In my opinion it is better because it has many small advantages. It is for example much easier to handle than a pc and doesn’t bug. In fact this computer hasn’t crashed at all, which was quite a trouble with my old pc.
If you are into playing computer games, do not buy an Apple.
I don’t know how well imacs work for software programming etc, but for makin music it is great. I’ve also heard that it’s good for video editing. -
