Have spoken to a relative who’s in the celebrity magazine business – thought he would know a decent web site to find out info like this. Apparently not though – He’s suggesting ringing J’s press office and asking them! You might have to pretend to be actually from the press, but I’m guessing J’s "people" would be fine about giving out info to Jo Public…haven’t a clue how you’d get J’s press office’s number though

AndreD,
I have been able to find a lot of cool stuff with Amazon, even if I don’t buy they are a great refrence if nothing else. Regarding the Gas/Food on DVD….if Amazon has no listing or additional info about the movie being released on DVD, I think there is a place on Amazon were you can request that it be made avail on DVD format or something were Amazon will email you when it is released on DVD. I have seen movies that have specific release dates for DVD versions of the movie.
You are also right they can be high priced, but at least you know you can get it from some place. Later, Chris

Chris – Just caught up with this, Thnx.

I can’t wait. That first listen of the first track – shivers down spine / hairs on back of neck time!

Javro,
Yeah, was thinking things over last night – last thing I did after wittering as if you were from LA or something was check your profile…ah – London then…too late by then. Had a pleasant evening chuckling to myself about the few people that would be thinking how much of a arse AndrewD was…
Sorry mate, but you’ll see where I’m comin’ from. The Streets are great – but there is no greater talent than J!
I will absolutely be going to see J when he comes over. Definately in London – also have friends up in Nottingham who are similarly obsessed by J – so would def’ go up there if he plays there again.
You’re right about people down here though – I normally get "who???" or "Is that the band that did that freak scene song?".
THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BUY MORE LIGHT!!!!
I’m sure there will be a flurry of activity on the boards from London based J fans as soon we know dates and places.
Can’t wait…
NB : You using the phrase "whack white boy hip-hopper talking about pills" made me think you were from the US…..don’t know why. Maybe "whack" was the decider for me………

hmmm. just thought, whack white boy hip-hopper talking about pills. guess it worked for marshall.

Yep! there is a bit of an eminem vibe to some of the songs i thought – in terms of attitude and sense of humour to a degree. But you couldn’t compare the two… A tricky one. I like his mixing of the trivial and cultural references – and he seems to be pretty clued up bearing in mind how young he is (or at least looks)…ISee where you’re coming from Javro – maybe they don’t translate too well. The bit where he talks about ending up in a kebab shop in South London after a night out drinking Stella, trying to deal with "You lookin’ at me?" type drunk yobs probably doesn’t have much to do with American life and culture.
It does however (and sadly) have alot to do with living in London and going out on a Friday night…
Still, alot of the lyrics made me chuckle – the one where he’s comparing a drunk yob to a peaceful dope smokin’ chap amused me, and I love the music.
Ah well, each to their own….

Ok looks like my link to Amazon may not work, since I just tried it and got a "bug" error. Just go to Amazon.com go to music put J Mascis in as your search and it will take you to the same place. Sorry. Still just trying to help. Chris

Chris, I’ve been searching for the same thing – seems pretty pricey to me, but can’t resist – must buy. Stumbled accross Gas Food Lodging Soundtrack whilst flicking about the amazon site.
Brought back very happy memories of J’s oscar winning performance in the film as a rock seller called (as I remember) "Cecil". He pronounces it See-Sill in the film – must be the American version of the correct way of saying it – "Sessill"…but I digress. Gas Food Lodging – Great Film, Superb Soundtrack – which I can’t seem to find on DVD…July 23, 2002 at 9:12 am in reply to: City Slang will be releasing the new J. & The Fog record #55209Hmm, not too sure I like being referred to as a "smelly UK b*****d". Still, you’re as excited as me about the new album, so I’ll let it go for now…
Allison,
Thanks for the prompt reply – ah, you all seem like a nice bunch. I have to go home now (It’s 6.12pm over here now and I’m still "at work".
Will let you all know about the fantastic "J Days" next time…maybe they will catch on when you here about them!
Thanks again & cheerio for now.
