Mosh pits during the most mellow songs…I remember I had tickets to a Foo Fighters show years ago, so we went and Dave played I think Everlong solo and very acoustic sounding….Didn’t think it was time for a pit in my opinion :- :) It did look a little strange :)

Apologies; in retrospect my comments appear heavy-handed and reactionary. I think I went a bit over the top and just vented my spleen when I saw your post. It is probably because I am ill at ease with the way people sometimes express themselves on internet forums. The generally anonymous nature of posting (in most cases people don’t see other posters in "real life") often makes people say things they wouldn’t otherwise say, and I just feel that the anonymity and low likelihood of encountering somebody again after a gig can prompt people to write things they wouldn’t normally write. I suppose what I am saying is that I don’t agree with slagging a "guy" off when you also include enough information about the situation to mean that somebody else could recognise that it is them you are speaking of. It often leads to ill-will and there is, in my opinion, really no need to comment on anybody else’s disposition at a gig as long as they don’t go attacking other people. I acknowledge that I could (and possibly should) have just let your comment go unanswered, and the fact that I just assumed it was me you were referring to without asking you more about it first was, as you suggest, perhaps indicative of the fact that I may have "looked" bored . Again, I apologise for my previous post, and wish you all the best in your life.

Hey man, don’t apologise, I’m glad you had a good time, I wouldn’t rip on someone for anything, this guy I was next to really was bored :) I probably wouldn’t even mentioned it if I hadn’t been punched by this complete psycho earlier during the show though, I guess that just had me more aware of the crowd from that point on, I mean she started during bulbs of passion so you know there was a whole lot of show left! :o
Anyway i’m glad you had a good time, it was an amazing show!
        All the best.

Couldn’t agree with you more, thats exactly how I feel about the crowd. You wanna watch the band, not get rammed into over and over :)
At the end of the day though Dinosaur Jr Rocked!

Not sure who did it on the original recording, but I can tell you this… nobody has done it live as perfectly as Dave Schools! Check out the Fog show from Cambridge MA on 11/20/04.

Other when I saw Lou do it the other night i’ll agree with that, Dave Schools does it perfectly, Id love to see J with the Fog…. :-

Your comments are most unhelpful, and ill-considered. It is very easy and very cowardly to post comments in this anecdotal fashion about how other people felt, or to insinuate that they "weren’t into it". You don’t know me, just as I don’t know you. You have no idea how I was feeling during the show, or whether I was bored, and furthermore, I very much doubt whether Dinosaur Jr. have appointed you a position whereby you are required to ensure that everyone who has paid for a ticket must watch attentively and rapt with pleasure at all times, therefore save yourself the heartache and concentrate on your own experience.

For your information, I really enjoyed the show. This doesn’t mean that my face was a picture of ecstasy at all points throughout Dinosaur Jr. being on stage, or that I threw my body about in wild abandon at all times, but, nonetheless, I was certainly "into it". You are correct when you assert that I was leaning on the barrier, the reasons for this being manifold and not exactly criminal i.e. to take some of the weight off of my legs, to steady myself when taking pictures or filming, and also because I didn’t really have anywhere else to go once the momentum of the crowd surged forward and pinned me in place. Even if I had wanted to dance around (which I didn’t particularly feel like doing that night) I couldn’t have; I didn’t have the room. I hope I have explained my behaviour away suitably.

Well no that wasn’t me as I didnt step away from the barrier but you going to the length to write a post directed at someones opinion shows that maybe you were looking bored and I don’t think that I need to be appointed by Dinosaur Jr to make an opinion on someone. If anyone at the show thought that I was a complete jerk off i’m sorry I gave off that vibe. I have actually seen the guy I was standing next to during the show, he was in town a few days after and said he rememberd me, the reason he looked bored was because he was there to see Dead Meadow and didn’t know much Dino. Don’t know who you was standing next to but bummer for them if they had the same trouble as we did with that girl, perhaps I was standing close to you then.
You make opinions on people every single day I don’t see why you arent aloud to do it during a show. I’m glad that you enjoyed the show anyway but if you had a good time then I don’t see why you felt the need to explain your actions.

                  Thanks a lot!

No, wasn’t you Scott, Think I did see you having a good old time :) and I don’t mind a mosh pit either. I’m all for people having a good time, hell, I was going crazy myself. Believe it or not this isn’t the first show i’ve been to. :D I don’t however expect to be punched in the head over by some crazed woman for no reason. Also I don’t think that someone screaming "Play Freak Scene or we’ll kill you motherfuckers" is a good way to show respect for a band you have came to see. I also don’t see how when J is singing the start of Gargoyle people can be moshing around. I guess at the end of the day some of us just have different ideas on how a show should be, I actually went to watch the band as well as listen which some people there definatley didn’t wanna do.
I am glad you had a good time Scott and so did I, it was a truly amazing night. As soon as I get the pictures on my pc i’ll post them up for all to see.
Do have to agree with mike though, I don’t see why they moved the show to the Academy 2 as that place was packed solid! People were standing on the balcony in the Academy 1!

EDIT: By the way, my ears are STILL ringing! i’m starting to get worried :) Hows the recording going Mike?

Hey, was at the show aswell, Got to the venue at 3pm and saw J and Lou, they were busy but about an hour later, Lou came out to Greet the Dead Meadow Guys, ended up talking with him for a good 45 mins about all sorts from Dinosaur Jr, to his solo work, to his family etc, His wife and Hannah went missing but he went to look for them and found them in boots. Spoke to him a little more and my partner and myself got a cool photo taken with him. We also saw Murph and all the Dead Meadow guys and said hey to them all.Well we stood at the front of the queue for 3hrs with two other people (Who were only there to see the like) untill some others started joining.
Well anyway got inside and was right at the front, The Like were not so good but Dead Meadow kicked ass! Well Dinosaur came on and they rocked the hell out of the place. I shouted for Bulbs of Passion at the start and some girl wouldnt stop asking for get me, i was so glad when J put her straight. Dinosaur were amazing, they sounded so good and so loud and they were all really into it. It was great to be that close to them and it was so amazing to see them.
My only complaint was some of the crowd just didn’t seem to want to see them, Firstly some woman started punching my partner and then me and screaming at us to f**k off :S then we ended up with these fat drunk old men behind us who just wanted to use us as crashing posts. Oh then at the other end of the scale the guy next to me wasn’t into it at all. he just stood leaning on the raid looking so bored. Guess it just bugged me that some people didn’t actually want to watch this amazing band.
As far as Dinosaur Jr go they were just amazing, Can’t wait to hear that recording Mike, it was a great show. I got some real good pictures too as I was so close so i’ll see what I can do about getting them up soon!
Any q’s about the show just ask!

Yeah a setlist and what they are selling would be cool to know also if you get an idea of the prices that would be good too (Always best to know how much to bring). I’ll hang around for a while after the show and see if they show up. Fingers Crossed!
Shame your not going to the Birmingham show aswell. Could have a Dinosaur Meet ;D

Well I hope you have a real great time tommorow and I look forward to hearing about the show. I’ll hopefully be bringing a digital camera to the show so i’ll see if I can get some good pics. Any of you guys have any idea the time J, Lou and Murph usually turn up at the venue at? I have a free day on Monday so wouldnt mind hanging round to see them getting there.
Still haven’t seen anything about the Scottish shows or the ATP festival but if I find anything i’ll post it here.

Oh yeah, do you think they will be selling shirts and stuff at the show, I wouldn’t mind picking one up if they are.

I’m going to the Birmingham show with my partner. The tickets for ATP were way too expensive so we were very happy to see these dates come up. I’m very much looking forward to it. Anyone else thats going to the Birmingham show should probably know they have moved the show from the Academy to the Academy 2, I mailed the Academy and its going to be 600 people MAX and its not even sold out yet so its going to be a small show.
So are we the only people going to the UK shows? I haven’t seen anyone else anywhere else on the net say they are going and I’ve yet to read any reviews or opinions on the Scottish shows. ???
                              Anyway, can’t wait untill Monday!
