Oh and the other guy with the long hair and the accent – I think his name is RJ or something like that.. I know who you are talking about. He is from the Netherlands and he is also very friendly. He is just doing sound. Actually, I don’t know anyone connected to dinosaur that has been rude.. That really makes me appreciate them even more. I would hate to think that my favorite band was comprised of assholes and rock star types.. I am simply not hip enough for that myself. It gives hope to us geeky types!

      Sabsquatch:

I definetly would love to know more about San Fran. Sadly, I probably will be spending a fair amount of time doing the tourist thing.. If nothing else, I just want ride a trolley and see the golden gate.

        Tom:

I was talking about the African-American man with glasses. He is probably in his 40s if I had to guess. I really like him. (Picture on my blog)

Thanks for the story, Tonas! I love seeing how these shows compare. It sounds like you a had a great time! If you want to post the pic of you and J, you can set up an account at photobucket.com. It is free and easy. You just need to upload the file and then you can post it in the body of a message with the image button. Photobucket will provide all of the necessary html. If you still can’t get it to work, just send me an attachment and I’ll post it for you.

My husband and I are flying into Portland next month and then driving down through Eugene and onto Napa and San Fran. I’ve never been to the west coast so if you have an tips on where to hang-out (ie places for shows, vegetarian restaurants, etc) please let me know.

The tour manager is a nice guy. I don’t know his name, but he seems to be super friendly. It is really cool that you talked to Lou and J. Did you get anything signed? Good thing you made that drive!!

Simmons – It seems that they are doing quite a few European shows. It is too bad that they won’t be near Scandinavia this time, but they seem to be gaining popularity with a new crowd since the reunion. This means a bigger fanbase and a tour that might include your town, right?

Did you just see them the one time at that festival?

But that was in june or july 05.

these reunion songs are the songs most of us have longed for and almost begged for, before the reunion happened. but now we miss the newer tunes. :D

Personally I loved the setlist from the show I saw last summer in Europe. But if the band come back to europe this summer to do festivals (which I hope they do), I feel it would be cool to add some other songs to the repetoire. there are still songs to pick, especially from Bug. And if the band members feel ok about picking post 89 dino tunes, that would make the setlists even more exciting.

              And there’s a new album going on … ;D

Where in Europe are you wanting to see them? From what the dinosaurjr.com site says, they should be somewhere near you. They have a lot of dates in Europe posted for May and the beginning of June.

The new album is the best news ever. I am actually in disbelief right now because one goes so long thinking that this is it for their favorite band and out of nowhere, the original line-up gets together and starts making music again. How can this be? I hope they start a huge tour for the new album next year.

That is, of course, if none of this about a new album is just a rumor.. What a sick joke that would be!

Mike Johnson had to play songs that he had no hand in creating.

But yeah, I was surprised too. Pleasantly..

I recently had someone transfer my dinosaur videoes to dvds.
I will gladly share videoes. I don’t see any reason to keep those videos for myself. And if we start sharing the videos we don’t have to buy them on ebay anymore. I I’m interested in dino stuff from the nineties. there must be some acoustic shows somewhere or some dino concert footage from the WAS tour 94-95?

I also have that english interview. :) kinda funny to see the expressions on lou and murphs face when the interviewer is joking with them. :)

If I had the capability to put videos on the net and/or watch them online, I would do it in a heartbeat. I only have dial-up at home. How sad is that? I wouldn’t mind making copies for anyone (Toni you can’t have the original!!) Really, I am not looking to sell anything. Obviously, I can’t make a million copies to mail out, but I would be willing to help out a few folks for sure. Just e-mail me if you are really interested and I’ll see what I can do about getting a copy to you.

The interview is one of the most unusual displays on the tape. The best thing is that Murph and Lou seem so nice and innocent that they aren’t even pissed off about the guy’s antics.

I will have to concur – It is refreshing to see bands carry their own equipment. Regardless of their music, Priestess really are good guys. They are all quite humble and you’ll notice how many times the singer thanks the audience for standing there while they play.

In high school I got into Emily Dickinson, John Donne, Walt Whitman, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. There were some others I thought were cool too, but hated always having to read all that Robert Frost crap.

If I were to pick a songwriter who I thought wrote beautiful poems it would be Robert Smith, and Greg Dulli. A lot of their stuff is just classic.

I used to want to be a Lit Prof. until I fell in love with architecture and engineering. In hindsight its probably good that I don’t teach Lit or have a job that requires me to write, I don’t think I would enjoy it as much if I did. That would be a shame.

                      Do you teach Betty?

I teach English Comp at the U of Memphis. I love teaching, but it can suck you dry. It really is a job and a half with a rip-off salary. Still, I couldn’t give it up for the world.

My husband is working on his Engineering degree at the moment. I really admire those of you who have the ability to undertake such a difficult subject matter. Words – yes. Numbers/Figures/Design – no.

Whitman and Donne are two others that I love as well. I have always considered Donne’s "A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning" to be one of the best love poems of all time.

As for Robert Smith, he is nearly as good as J when it comes to lyrics..

I never really liked the Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. I think TS Eliot was a very overrated poet. But it’s nice to see more sophisticated influences on people nowadays.

                        P.S. read some Allen Ginsburg.

Ginsberg is the reason I am where I am now – Let’s just say, literature is my life..

I read Ginsberg for the first time in 8th grade and it changed me somehow. Some of my colleagues actually had the opportunity to sit in on some his readings/performances back in beat days..

Have you ever heard the Sonic Youth song "Hits of Sunshine: Ode to Allen Ginsberg"

                        P.S. I still love Eliot

I’m pretty sure he’s from or lives in Athens (iirc, his wife teaches there ?) so it’s probably the same guy. Kyle Spence also plays/played drums in The Fog.
