I think that’s just another example of somebody in the media trying to fabricate a controversy where there isn’t one. I’m well aware of the band’s history and Lou seemed to be having a good time, with J his usual reserved self.

The FW Star Telegram writer says they played Cats In A Bowl during the Dallas show, but I don’t really remember it. I could be wrong though, as that’s a song I would overlook if I were to overlook any of them.

Sorry, but I don’t have a lot of sympathy for those who wanted to hear the later incarnation of Dinosaur play. Green Mind is the only album that is in line with the Barlow years standard. Where You Been is ok but terribly overrated, and everything after that has a boring sameness to it. For somebody who had seen them 3 times before, I’m really surprised that you never picked up the early stuff. That’s kind of like a Sonic Youth fan who has nothing pre-Dirty.

The author is a dumbass. Every time I’ve seen Dinosaur, they never say much. And one time when I saw Sebadoh, Lou did the gibberish thing between songs. And they didn’t cut Just Like Heaven short and Lou didn’t yell nonsense during the song– that’s the way their version of the song goes and perhaps the author should know that in advance before he mouths off.

Lou did say the crowd didn’t seem to be having a good time, but that could’ve been because the folks up front had to watch their backs for fear that they would get slammed to the floor by a minor but rambunctious couple of slam dancers. The reception for the band was not tepid in the least. It wasn’t overwhelming either, but it was much more than merely polite.

Oddly enough, I think I forgot the very last song they did…

From what I remember, here is the setlist in a very general order, with the middle songs not really being in order at all. All these songs were played, however.

              Gargoyle
              Kracked
              Sludgefeast
              In A Jar
              Forget The Swan
              Mountain Man
              The Lung
              Tarpit
              Bulbs Of Passion
              Lose
              Little Fury Things
              Budge
              Raisans
              Freak Scene
              Just Like Heaven
              The Wagon

It wasn’t long…maybe an hour and 20 minutes with 2 encores…but I’ve seen DJ two or three times on the Green Mind tour, Where You Been tour, and I think Without A Sound tour before I gave up. This was awesome. Not only was it a very energetic setlist filled with their best tunes from almost entirely their first three albums, but it was also the first time I’ve seen J not play sloppy. I love his sloppiness– don’t get me wrong– but perhaps in my old age I’m appreciating a man who can better control and play his guitar. He scorched Dallas last night.

I might also add that while I completely wasn’t up for it last night, I loved the fact that a couple dudes started up a mosh pit and knocked the crap out of a few people. One girl really got ticked because she kept getting knocked down. I would’ve done it, but, hey, I did my crowd surfing when Sonic Youth played "Teenage Riot" in 91 and did my stagediving with Dinosaur played "The Lung" that same year (when MBV opened up for them). Those were the days.
