ye old crone, go make a booty call
Really, rab, I am not trying to piss with you over this, but isn’t that view just a wee bit polarizing? Yeah, I have had my time with all cops suck and refused to have anything to do with politics or corporations for that matter. Sure, I would agree most large corporations are corrupt, exploitative, and dedicated directly, or indiscriminately to keeping a wide valley between the classes. Politicians run permanant campaigns, where all of their moves are centered around re-election, included pork-barrell appropriations.
However, we are talking about people here, where ideals aren’t always made of the rubber hitting the road. Perhaps, they are made by Firestone, this would not suprise me either. I sincerely hope there are some folks out there who still believe in whatever virtue our flawed system occasionally delivers. If no one has the slightest bit of faith, what is going to seperate us from assuming a dictatorship or monarchy? Things seem bad with the current concentration of power, but history shows the cycle change and hopefully, at some point, we as citizens will be given more options in which to voice ourselves, rather than being forced to protest vote all the time over the lesser fop.
I might address corporations later, but I mostly agree. Only problem I have is government action that prevents private citizens from performing tasks that the government has to right to sequester, such as with child support enforcement.

Just saw Clark and Small Brown Bike last night at the Senior Bar on the campus of the Universitiy of Notre Dame. Showed up late, missed two other bands, Choir Invisible and Completing the Square, two badns, like SBB I never heard.
Came in whilst Clark played. They are the alpha dogs of the South Bend scene, a loose network of bands that play punk, punk-techno, "emo" if you must, and some even rock out for God. None of the bands worry at all about the others’ delivery of beliefs, they are all just happy doing what they love, which gives the fans a big plus over others who might be more concerned with image dynamics. It’s all just love here.
Clark is mostly hardcore, but with a slower singing style, lots of attention to harmony, some metally riffage and clever changes in tempo. Ryan their drummer is just a huge huge hitter. Normally, they do not need to mike him, but last night… oh jeezis, that place was just shaking. Mike the guitarist, decided to add some funk to his old school metal grinding. For his trouble, he got crowd surfed while playing. Pat, the singer/bassist is the most fun to watch, as he should have run the high hurdles in school with his leaps. Occasionally he sweats so much that he shorts our his mike and shocks
himself really good. It is kinda funny to watch him getting surfed while the shock things is going on.SBB, is to say the least, world class. It is no doubt why Sparta and Cave In asked them to tour earlier this year. If you guys get a chance to see them, do it! They are all about the screamo things, but their sound is just…. tight, large and textured. I can’t say too much about it other than the crowd was totally into it and my hearing was fucked afterwards as was the band’s, the venue’s dynamics were excellent.

http://www.clarkclarkclark.com (message board Still have three Clark Cd’s on hand for who ever wants one, and Jaron, yours went out late, sorry but in the mail. Sending these out to folks free, or in trade for something from your local scene or a band I like or have not heard. Clark gives permission to burn copies for friends if you like also.
yup. I like them too. Especially like the red lighting effect in the first two in contrast with the bright clarity of # 3.

Hey, Happy Birthday. Leave the stick at home, tonight, huh?

yeah, I agree, rab, this is a hard deal with the uniparty deal. I have had a chance to become inundated with diehard Dems and Reps this year with my Poli Sci Club and also got to see our U.S. reps candidates debate. All the while, I am thinking, "Green, Libertarian, Independence" or any fresh voices or, better yet, independant thinkers with the ability to lead and think beyond a plank.
Alas, the competitive drive in the U.S.A. wants winners and losers, not neccesarily solutions or more options. Our traditional parties know that and pass laws to keep it that way. I have to give it up to the G.O.P. for their unity and sense of thinking about where they want to head. The Dems or the thirds do not have that leadership at present. Say what you will about Bush, but he is creating a legacy and I wouldn’t be suprised to see him go two full terms if not shot or ran out over a failed Iraq mission. Damn shame to see Mondale lose, though, I grew up on Carter as a tyke and Mondale as everyone’s kind uncle…. a nice career though he had.
Well said, Javro. I do not see the need to duplicate from a source that should get credit for their own works. However, I was told and shown that intertexuality is humongously useful in formulating new ideas and understandings or at least taking a concept and putting its basis to work in several different spectrums. Quite frankly, I am still having fun with writing and probably always will to some extent.
That brings me to the questions by rabbit:
I didn’t really seek out any type of response by posting this essay here. I have been sharing my works here for quite some time as you probably know. More often than not, I do not get a response. When someone does reply, in any way, great. I appreicate you took the time to ask. More than anything else, my philanthropic side cannot sit still while my asthetic side exercises, so the sharing is just for the sake of doing so. Sure, I suppose I have an ego like anyone else and joke about it quite al ot, even in some rants that maybe some folks take wrong. Sometimes I am overbearing, I admit, or even the sharing goes on to the point of immersion, but hell, I covered all this in the essay above.
I am studying to be an English teacher at either the junior high or senior high level. It also looks like a poli sci minor may be possible.
I hope these answers were kind, as I had to debate off and on throughout the day how to exactly respond to questions I feel have information or views attached to them that are not very clear. I do not think you mean me any ill will, nor do I wish you any. I do wish if there is a beef or discomfort you have with me that you would please give me a chance to address it specifically.
Tom
I will say both reasons apply, as I try to avoid writing about things I am not interested in. However, with school, that choice is not always there.
I am curious as to the framing of your question. Would I be right in saying you do not like Barthes, school or both? I am not his greatest fan, but he does have some interesting viewpoints, especially on photography and its attendant culture.
November 4, 2002 at 9:21 pm in reply to: could any one help me out with the sst superstores email?… #72473This is kind of a back door, and I caution you, that if the info is here and you contact the person listed, they probably will not be happy, but will most gladly direct you to the right place:
http://www.netsol.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois
you pop in the domain name, or URL minus the www and it should give you who registered the site, perhaps the street address they used when registering it and maybe even a phone number. If you do not get a phone, you can run the address in a reverse directory from http://www.reverseaddress.com and see if you get anything. There are more things you can do, but this might be the easiest, just not the most pleasing for the folks at the other end.
Nah, I am not on Clark’s either, as far as I know. Actually, the drummer was in my poetry class and writes some good stuff. I just took a chance and went to their show one day and really didn’t like it. The vocals were mixed way down, but because there was this massive energy and such a happy devoted buncg, and the link I had, I gave it another try. Am very glad I did. They also had some other regional bands playing with them such as underoath from Florida and sky came falling from New York, and Prevent Falls from somewhere out west. Now and then they have a suck show with bad sound or not having time to sound check but usually bodies are flying and punks a-surfing in clubs the size of coffeehouses. Big energy in small places….
Nah, you don’t need to buy me anything if you don’t want to or don’t have it, although I am interested in hearing them. Let me send you the Clark CD and maybe you can tape me something you have from Dead Meadow on cassette. I use them in my car often enough.
they are a local band from South Bend, In. Unknown genrewise what you would call them but pretty good. If cred is what you are after, they played at a fest this last summer with Songs: Ohia, will be playing with another band next week called small brown bike, who themselves just toured with sparta this summer. They are also touring nationally in the summers and sometimes on odd weekends as school schedules allow. Just thought I would toss out an opening. take it or leave it.
