I like the Strokes a lot; they’re on top of my list of 2001. Of course they sound like a young Lou Reed, V.U and Television; but what I like so much is that they are realy sounding like a BAND! Nice songs, great little guitarwork. The only thing against them is the hype that is created. So forget the hype, forget the stupid "future of R&R-shit" and enjoy 37 minutes of enthousiastic Rock!
The White Stripes are dealing with the same "hype-shit".
PS. If you’re looking for musicsugestions: look up my thread : with the favorite albums of 2001.My sugestion is to keep it simple:
Dinoheaven
1)Rust never sleeps
2)Tonight’s the night
3)On the beach (only on vinyl)
4)Ragged glory
5)Zuma
6)After the Goldrush
7)HarvestIf you ask me next week, I’ll give you another top seven. Its like earlier said, moods, moods and more moods.
Looking for compilations, the MTV one is good, it goes back to buffalo springfield-songs (chack out that box) and it’s got a great feel. Decade is pretty cool too!
Thinking about the best Stones records for another thread, I came on the wonderful cover of "Wild Horses". Flyong Burrito Bros.
Den Buck: Since the White Stripe-hype, Carpenters are hot again, an anthology-compilation is probably on it’s way!

This is a true, but well known example, of a cover/original-mixed up. Jagger/Richards wrote the song, FBB recorded it, Stones made their version of the FBB-interpetation..but it still is a Jagger/Richards-original.So the cover still…is better than the later recorded original. It is an often used Pop-quiz-question.
Let me think….three points for Den Buck The Best Stonesrecords:
1)Beggars Banquet
2)Get yer ya-ya’s out (because solo in "love in vain")
3)Sticky Fingers
4)Exile on main street
5)Let it Bleed
6)Tatoo you
7)Voodoo lounge
8)Between the buttons
9)Some GirlsThanks so far, but I’m missing about ….. So again what’s behind it. It is so, so, shall I call it interesting?. Books, films, own creations, songs, what mum used to say…
but it say’s something about the person behind it.
quote:
Originally posted by den buck:
Senor Coconut is big fun, I’ve got the album, there surely will be something from them on a new ‘covers’ mix….

What’s up Buck? nr.25??

You know I once knew a woman, who looked like you, She wanted a whole man not just a half.
She use to call me sweet daddy when I was only a child. You kind of remind me of her when you laugh.Quote: Do not blame God for creating the tiger, you should be gratefull he didn’t give it wings.
How about elephants with wings. We won’t be so happy, I guess
Is your son on the board as well?? It sounds like a musical family!
Collection has been reduced over time due to theftmurphedspace constraints. Don’t buy as much as I used to cause my son buys so much now. We have pretty similar tastes, but he has the most newer stuff. He is 15 and has about 200-250 cd’s (we have some duplicates of stuff we both wanted our own copy of – More Light is one of the dupes).[/QB]
I’m still waiting for "On the beach" by Neil. Come dino sr, don’t let us wait so long and just bring it out + outtakes. If you can do it with the buffalo springfieldmaterial
"the name of this band is Talkingheads" on cd would be nce too. It’s a great live double-album that shows the band starting in 77 (shy) until 81. -
