i havent seen the one for this week- but there was a pretty good article a couple of weeks ago. it listed all the things that the J,Lou,and Murph liked and disliked about each other. its a pretty entertaining read. one of the things J said he liked about Lou was that he played a few games of miniature golf with him and thought it was an ok time. ill try to post the whole thing later tonight- i think it was about 3 pages long- it had some pretty cool pictures as well.
I wish i could make it but i have to work. It would be around 10 before i got down there- and then back and to work and then its an hour to knoxville that night and then the same thing the next day but charlotte is 3 hours away. I drive for work- so thats a lot of driving. its just really busy at work this week- so i cant get any time off. it sucks. atlanta is a cool town. I wish i could make it- ive seen J there twice once in 94 and then in 2000 i think. ive only been to athens once- earlier this year- it seemed like a nice town- but i was only there for about 4 hours- just for the show and then we drove home. its the same with chicago- ive seen J there 4 or 5 times- but i think the longest time ive ever spent there was about 7 hours once. its like a 9 hour drive there – then the show- then drive back. but it is always been worth it. anyway- i will behave and i hope everything goes well with your baby.
I dont know what thats supposed to mean- but ill be sure to record the knoxville show and possibly charlotte. hopefully,if they come out pretty good. ill be able to get them up for everyone to hear.
i forgot to mention how good dave and kyle sounded- it was cool to see dave singing the parts on sameday- and i can also see the comparisons of a young jon bonham and kyle spence- i hope this version of the fog lasts for a long time- J really seemed to enjoy playing with them- they really added a lot-
here is the setlist for last night-
freedom
the lung
everybody lets me down
sameday
ammaring
little fury things
yeah we know
get me
tarpit
thumb
freakscene
alone
if thats how its gotta be
the wagon
sludgefeastit was a great show- that was the twentieth time ive seen J and it was definately one of the best- it was great to hear yeah we know and tarpit- i had never seen him play those live- they sounded really good. J was in top form- the solos for ammaring, thumb, and alone were amazing- and sludgefeast.
i guess youll all get to hear it- so thats good -i recorded it, but my recording stuff isnt all that great- im glad somebody got a really good recording-i think j played "help me Amma" in the soundcheck on that old 2001 show that HOB had on their site. its a cool song- i was hoping it would be on free so free- i would like to hear the whole thing. it sounded really good.
I didnt think he played the burned one either- but i asked him about it after the show and he said that he played it- but he had cleaned it up. So i guess it was one of those. Thanks for the correct setlist. I couldnt remember if he played freakscene for the encore or not.
Het Maggotbrain-
id love to get a copy of that show if possible- just e-mail me at walrusteeth@yahoo.com and hopefully we can work out a trade or something
thanksI’m pretty sure thats Buddy Rich yelling and screaming at his band- its pretty funny to listen to- you can download some of his rants on some website somewhere and i think you can get a comic book of it or something too. I think Mike Watt was responsible for that on that tour.
Id be more than happy to help out with a new guitar or any kind of gear for J.. That really sucks about his studio- but again its good to hear that no one was hurt- its definately a good idea for everybody to chip in and get him something if they want to. Just let me know how.
this might vary a little since i live in tn as far as the shipping- but mine came to $36.70. which isnt real bad, i guess. its just nice to have "no way" and that version of alone on the same cd with the regular album.
that link doesnt seem to be working- try this one-
http://www.ponycanyon.co.jp/wtne/cdw/Happy Birthday to everyone. have fun!
sorry i forgot to mention Des Ark, who opened for J on both nights- if you ever get a chance to see them- go.
they were one of the best bands ive seen in awhile.
the music is kind of hard to describe- but definately very very good.i dont know – i guess we’ll have to see what happens in atlanta- if he plays with a band there- then he might bring them along for the rest of the tour. im pretty excited about the knoxville show- i cant believe that blue cats is actually having J play there. i couldnt believe that mike watt played there last month either. blue cats is a cool place- it has a nice patio. if your coming from out of town you ought to get there early enough to check out the disc exchange- its one of the best cd places ive been too. they dont have all that much in the way of dinosaur or fog stuff though- but pretty much anything else.
