Nice. The lead singer sounds a bit like Carla Bozulich!
And if you’re not on FB you get nothing! 🙂
Hope someone here wins the sketch.
This guy’s art and site is pretty great. Nice Off! Clockwork Orange poster there. I second his suggestion to check out the LACMA Kubrick exhibit if you’re in the area. Truly stunning, a great appreciation, amazingly well put together; I’ve seen it several times and would go again if I had the chance.
Big crimpin:
Space Lady flies again!
I love this so much:
Thanks, Obseqio. The venue is really something else.
Here’s a clip of the show someone posted to youtube:
The eyeball is everywhere. I was talking to a friend about the flying eyeball logo a couple of days ago and I thought Rick Griffin originated the image, but my friend, who works for Stanley Mouse, was saying the eyeball logo goes back at least to Von Dutch
(that image link probably won’t work as I’m inept)
and later, Rick Griffin, whose surfing and flying eyeballs I like best, then Stanley Mouse, Robert Crumb, and more recently, Alan Forbes’ vampire bat eyeball, and now this company.
Looks like they’re adding more CA dates to the tour page, sweet.
I’d drive to the Fresno show if they can get Brian Kenney Fresno to open!
From a crystal ice cathedral
Of a mystic land called Sweden
Came a pyrotechnic wizard rising star
Fulfillment of the prophecies
Traveled wide and far
Shred master wanker God
We know who you are
He’s Yngwie F’in Malmstein
That’s who!
That’s who!Obsequio–that New York show was one for the ages, at least from what I saw on youtube. I don’t usually find the all-star guest appearances shows very satisfying, but that was an incredible concert with stellar sit-ins—especially Kim Gordon et al on Don’t—totally unhinged, brutal, wrenching amazing cathartic– the whole show was killer great. Lucky you and everyone who was there.
Super pumped to hear Dinosaur Jr in a barn on a hill.
Check out the Huichica fest and a bit of J’s set:
So while I’m waiting for that Fuzz Munchkin to get in I ordered a Double Rock. I found out that the Purple Sparkle is limited to the forst 200. They can be found, but as of yesterday there’s one less.I had to go down to LA for work last week and while down there I visited TrueTone Music and among their many pedals saw a Double Rock that was a purple sparkle finish but with a different graphic painted on top, a hand holding a torch/candle. The guy working there said Zvex is making them with different graphics now in addition to the J Mascis model.
Obsequio–sweet pedals you got there!
If you’re having an amp custom built you might want to check out West Coast Pedal Board:
http://www.westcoastpedalboard.com
They can match the tolex, tweed, etc. of whatever amp you’ve got. They’re very well built, look awesome, and Spencer the owner is a nice guy.
Empire, thanks for taking the time/effort and uploading the Farm and Several Shades of Why instrumental to youtube. Super stoked to hear these. Yes, I like your artwork! I tried to buy the SSOW instrumental track cd off ebay a couple of times but the seller refused my offers.
The IBOS instrumentals are on their way to more tech-capable hands; hopefully you’ll get to hear them soon.
I laughed out loud watching it. Lots of great touches, super funny.
“Was that a real video? It looks legit, I’m just asking”–my kid
Congrats!
What song did you get?
If it’s alright to upload it to free so free or to someone here I’ll share it; don’t want to step on any legal or creative toes. I got it for $12, came with the regular release and the instrumental tracks on a second disc. My friend can upload it for me if it’s copacetic with the band/management/forum’s policies.
Best non-Dino albums I bought in 2012:
Neil Young–Psychedelic Pill
Lee Ranaldo–Between the Times and the Tides
MV & EE–Space Homestead
Bird By Snow–Offering
Bob Dylan–Tempested. I forgot to mention a single, maybe not the best, but it got me on an Everly Brothers kick; stoked to hear the rest of their covers:
Bonnie Prince Billy and Dawn McCarthy–Christmas Eve Can Kill You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHriYpNoDbA
They sing great together, the recording is pure, and Lara’s video is sweet; she’s a master of the Peter Weir sun and leaf shimmer, among other things.
Also, for those who’ve not listened yet, the first song on Psychedelic Pill is 27+ minutes long. Woohoo! My people.
