I liked the bit where they talk about witches and Kennedy babbles on about having witches and ashrams and then leaps to skinheads and white supremacists where she’s from or something.
J just goes "E(h)?"
Kennedy giggles moronically and J just joins in.

I always interpretted The Little Baby as J’s retaliation to Lou’s grudge songs aimed at him.
You know, the mumbly mellow babble J voice going on about mundane day to day stuff and the screaming of "The Little Baby" (J’s pastiche of Lou, the designated screamer in Dinosaur) as a response in the chorus.
That’s how I always heard it. Wadda’ya think?
Whatever, it rocks.
Those songs were on the UK B-sides of The Wagon and ‘Whatever’s Cool…" Twelve inches."erin the great " wrote:"deepsIush " wrote:There’s a stream on the sonic youth site of the songs, pretty good. http://www.sonicyouth.com/alt-main/rippedpop.htmlApparently, all the songs are about J. I gathered this by reading the lyrics. It’s teenage riot to the 99th degree.
I read the lyrics and didn’t really see how some could be about J.
Yeah, I didn’t get that either.
"deepsIush " wrote:Great news tom_in_chicago, thanks.I hope they record the whole album in that week or so.
Uh huh, and I really hope Lou manages to get a couple of his songs on there. I can’t believe that Lou is still intimidated by J after all this time, he’s a great songwriter.
Thanks, I enjoyed the interview but that guys idea of irony? Straight outta Alanis. Nirvana release Bleach the same year as Original Dinosaur line-up crumbles. Isn’t it ironic? J from dinosaur’s guitar leads are (extremely) vaguely reminiscent of Marc from T-rex. Prehistoric reptile connection, isn’t it ironic, don’tcha think? Huh? Not to mention that counting crows insult. Agreed, Hurl…..Wah….
Years ago, I remember reading an interview in a guitar magazine with J and Kevin Shields. The interviewer described J as something like "Cranky, stoned on pot, eating a Domino’s pizza from the box positioned on his chest so as to minimize the distance between the box and his mouth".
This hardly means big into drugs but I just found the image amusing. By the way, I just love the title of that other thread here. Y’know the one?
]"Wait, J was arrested for d,d,d,drugs?"[/b] or something.
Hilarious.
I hear/read "Days Have Gone By" recommended quite often. Thanks SG, this will be the next CD I own.
Y’know what, Jeremiah ?
Those guides for where to listen didn’t really ease the pain all that much.
Lets hope that these guy’s handlers utter the words to activate their government mind control programming and that they slaughter all their friends and family and then each other slowly.
Thanks anyway though (I think).
Hey SG,
Thanks for the link to the Sharrock and yeah, he’s Awesome.
If you haven’t heard it I recommmend you check out "Ayler Undead" by Eugene Chadbourne.
As you might expect, it’s Chadbourne covering Ayler tunes on electric guitar and banjo with a drummer and bassist. It’s wicked and I think it would quite probably be your cup of tea.J along with Ecstacy era MBV and Sister era Sonic youth, probably Psychocandy too was what made me pick up a guitar.
I play tenor sax too and that’s because I heard Ayler and got jealous.
I don’t own any John Fahey. I really need to buy some.

"King Tubby " wrote:Well, with the SST albums there wasn’t a wealth of material to slap on them,They must’ve had plenty of live stuff to choose from to make them more attractive. I’ve got a shitty cassette of the entire Vera Groningen show from ’87. My tape’s bad that was recorded straight from the mixing desk and The Lung from that gig turned up on the "Beauty In The Underworld" compilation. That would’ve made a wicked companion disc to YLOM. Y’know , just thoughts like that. Whatever J thinks about Show Me The Way, his version rules, end of story. Isn’t it on the Jap reissue anyway?
Just Does It Float live on Dinosaur, Just Like Heaven + Video (huh?) on YLAOM, B-side to Freak Scene and a couple of videos on Bug struck me as a bit disappointing.
You know what I meant. I think we were all sort of hoping for "Deluxe" editions i.e. Pavement. But yeah, sonic improvement is a good thing.
"King Tubby " wrote:Not that I’m complaining, but they should’ve loaded up the Green Mind reissue with a bunch of the stuff on Whatever’s Cool With Me……or simply remastered and reissued that, too."ammaringnyc " wrote:that would have made more senseI don’t really wanna take a dump on the barbeque here but I’m going to. The tracklistings on these Rhino reissues are totally lame and so miserly meagre. Really, WTF? Why does it always seem to be this way with Dinosaur?
Let’s be honest. Given all the fantasizing and speculation about the reissues of the SST and Homestead albums that no doubt we all did while waiting for those, weren’t they ultimately a dissapointment? I mean, actually omitting the cover version of Show Me The Way, just a couple of bonus tracks, chronological confusions, etc. I know some of us here bitched about it at the time but, ugh! Aren’t these latest batch of reissues just like deja vu all over again?
"andyfest " wrote:Sort of sucks that Lou’s not contributing anything. I’d feel a lot better about it if it sounded like J was letting him have a song or two.Yeah, I’ll second that. It definitely sort of sucks.

What happened to Gastr?O`Rourke did`nt show up when they were about to tour with the Red Krayola was the story I heard.Yeah I loved Bitch Magnet and Bastro. What happened with Gastr? I read an interview with Grubbs and he more or less said that what happened was private and personal and not open to discussion. So who Knows? Assuming they’re both straight, I’m guessing maybe women trouble. If they’re not, maybe men trouble. What else could be so private? Obviously, any amount of things, I guess. personal (and especially creative) relationships are so complex .Whatever, it’s a shame.
Thanks Jeeb, man.
I’ll make a point to check those other sites out.
