By Jove I think I’ve got it…..
Mr Vain by Dr Alban
Out of the (very good) female guitar players that I know and have been in bands with, very few have any interest in solos. Indeed, I recall a topic on these very boards a year or so ago with some of the girls here stating that they did not like J’s solos (think the thread was something like "favourite J solos"). So, if they ain’t into it, why learn it? Think it is something that is definitely more a guy thing (can’t imagine girls pulling the stoooopid faces that us guys pull when bending top notes ha ha). Now before you girls come back at me telling me that you love J’s solos, I know this does not apply to everyone.
Also, re tabs – whatever floats yer boat, but I would never use them – would much rather play something over and over again until I nail it myself, just for self-satisfaction. I guess that’s just me though. Chords are always pretty easy to learn – just work up from the root, but I’m usually just lucky with solos, and having learnt as a classical guitarist, I guess I had an advantage with scales etc.
Would never argue with MM – as much as I disagree with some of his opinions (that’s what makes the world interesting though) I was HUGELY impressed with his midifiles when I first discovered them, and still check them regularly. DIsappointed I could never download them into my phone ring though….
No gloating though MM
Good work Kathleen – registered on the boards for almost two years, and coming in with a whopping 2 posts per year
Speak soon – remember I’m noo yawk bound in a month or two.

Stanley Jordan at 96. Jesus. What hope is there for the rest of us. Clapton and Richards in the top 10, and Jordan in at 96. Would have gone with "most influential" but certainly not "greatest".
Pooplash.
Don’t know if you guys remember Spandau Ballet (True, Gold, Through the Barricades), but the ex-lead singer, a guy called Tony Hadley, said hello to Liam the other day at some awards do, and Liam told him to f@@@ off. Tony jumped him, and Liam had to be saved by bouncers. Ha ha. Liam beaten up by an ex-Ballet member. No good for your cred, eh Liam?
Salami and Al – thanks for your support. Trust I can count you in as my second and cut-man. And as for the Blur and Pulp whacking stick, it’s about time for me to break it out of retirement….

Salami, Buck, AGAP etc, am expecting lots of help from you, oh ye of encyclopaedic knowledge.
Once again, a great line up from the States fails to continue in the UK. If anyone can give me any advice on who the hell some of the bands playing at the hugely glamorous Camber Sands are (The Fall and the Breeders would be cool) then I’ll consider going, but was less than enamoured by the lineup.
Cheers

I’m right with Jasper – how could we have forgotten about Oasis. This band is a joke and an absolute disgrace. Every song is awful, and their infatuation with the Beatles is very sad – calling your son Lennon??!! Jesus, I would be so embarassed if I were one of the (surviving) Beatles, that this group of non-talented half-wits were trying to emulate me so.
And now they’ve even gone down the late George Harrison route (pronounced the English way – root, not rowt and gone all sitar like with their latest release (sorry, don’t even know what it is called). Liam is in the papers fighting bouncers again. What I’d give to roll a couple of rounds with the lad.
See ya later
Steady on Jaron.
You’re close to talking sense….
Martin and Me has to be one my favourite albums. Ever.
always worth checking ebay for mellotron’s, ebow’s etc as well as korg, boss/roland and other floor rack effects. picked my A6 up for £50, and my 606ll for £35. complete with manual don’t you know.
Def Leppard make the top 100 there, but with pour some sugar on me.
Surely there should be a place for "Let’s get rocked" by the Sheffield rocksters.
"well I’m sorry girl, but here’s my confession
suppose a rock’s out of the question"poetry, pure and simple.
there’s some crackers here
Earth Song – Michael Jackson ("what about antelopes, what about geese" – or something like that)
Anything by the Lighthouse Family (not sure if you have been "blessed" with their "talents")
That tall shaky Latino fella – she bangs or "she’s into superstition, black cats and voodoo dolls, I have a preminition, that girl’s gonna make me fall"
Lou Bega – mambo number five.
I could go on all day, so many worthy contenders.
