It just sorta worked out that way… The Strat’s a mex made that I got in high school. It was my first electric, and the best guitar in my price range that I could find after trying out several. It still is a very good guitar and I’ve made several modifications to it including new pickups and electronics, tuners, and pickguard.
The Tele I just happened to fall in love with at a guitar show in ’98. I had some cash so I just had to have it… It’s still my main axe.
The Jazzmaster’s a fairly recent purchase. I specifically wanted a JM, and Fender’s the only one that makes them.

I also have a very nice Yamaha acoustic and a G&L bass if that makes you feel any better. Though I guess G&L is still technically a Fender.

I used to have a cheapo Epiphone Les Paul knock off that I ended up selling to a friend (sort of, he only ever paid me part of the money and then split town for several years). It was a piece of shit and I was just glad to get rid of it…

I’m thinking of maybe a Gibson Les Paul or SG, with P-90’s as a next guitar… but alas, that is several paychecks away…
Maybe I should post a picture of my acoustic and bass, so that they don’t feel left out.

Very pretty collection you got there…
Does that say Taylor on the 6-string acoustic? Nice!
Here, I found a link regarding the pickup differences:

Lots of other cool Jaguar/Jazzmaster stuff on that site too.
The big difference in sound between the Japan Jazzmasters and the USA ones (both old and reissue) is that the USA pickups are wound shallow, but wide, which produces the Jazzmaster’s trademark sound, while the japan ones are wound narrow, but deep, which is more like a strat… However, Seymour Duncan makes a jazzmaster pickup that’s supposedly made to the spacs of the old USA ones. I haven’t tried them myself though…
Seriously though, the USA reissues are REALLY REALLY good! Try on out if you get the chance. They don’t have the old, broken-in neck feel of and old guitar, but still think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
I’ve had this shirt for years, but unfortunately it’s about worn out… Maybe I should buy a replacement and put the other into vault of "cool shirts Mattman can’t wear anymore, but wants to keep".

I have one of the USA ’62 reissues. Got it used for $800. It’s pretty acurate to the old ones (much better tuners though, but they still look like the vintage ones), even using the same cellulose finish and pickgaurd that they made the originals with. I’m very impressed with it!

Thinking about swapping out the bridge though…
Here’s a pic:

Wow, I don’t know what I’d do if I ever lost my Tele…

I hope he can get it back too.
I see the old ones on ebay sometimes, and a local vintage guitar shop has a couple, but cheap is definitely not a word that I would use…

I think the cheapest I ever saw one go for in recent years was around $1500, but you can usually count on $2000 – $2500 from what I’ve seen.

I love that orange Jazzmaster, I’ve never seen it before.
Very cool!
One day I hope to hang at Anywhere Really (a great club name, IMO) and listen to Grey Mascis perform.

Wow, that’s awesome!!!
You should point the webcam at the lego city.
I hate to bring reality into the gasout equation, but well, this explains it better than I can
