Maybe you can get Dino to play at your wedding

Wouldn’t that be nice. I’ll just have to settle for seeing them on Jacksonville, FL on Dec 1.

Wait, wait! I’m still here… Still alive! Thanks everyone!

Sorry that I haven’t been around, so much has been going on. Here’s a brief summary:
Met a wonderful woman
Bought a house
Got engaged to said wonderful woman
Planning April 13, 2008 weddingHey, I’m busy!
…and the above ain’t the half of it.Still, despite my absence, I’m very flattered that you folks still take the time to wish me a happy birthday (and it was very happy indeed).

Maybe, just maybe, I should come out of hiding long enough to wish our fearless leader and the lovely Rosa happy birthdays.

Happy birthday to the both of you! I hope that each of you have a wonderful and joyful day, respectively.

My JM is a USA (2002), but it’s in a sad state.
The neck is shot. It has a bow in it that the truss rod can’t fix, which causes the last few frets to bottom out unless I set the action really high. It’s always had this problem, but it seems to be getting worse. I took it to my guitar tech guy, and he said that it’s probably a factory defect, but since I’m not the original owner, I have no recourse through Fender. So, basically I need a new neck. I’m combing ebay for a CIJ neck, either a ’66 Jazzmaster neck or a ’62 Strat neck (both are identical, but the Strat neck wouldn’t have the correct decal on the headstock). I could just sell it, but I’m kinda attached to it. I don’t care if the neck doesn’t match as long as it’s playable.Where am I going with this?
My guitar guy says that he’s seen a lot of hit and miss quality coming out of Fender’s USA shop. He also says that the Japanese made products are much more consistant in their quality and that they’re a much better deal… cheaper and less likely to be defective. So, if you want a JM, I’d recommend going with a MIJ/CIJ one and then maybe switch out the pickups, since some of the Japan JM pickups are not vintage spec (they look like JM pickups, but are wound like Strats).
Wish me luck on my search for a new neck!

Well, it looks like both, Jeremiah and I, have posted this on myspace as well. I think I’ll toss it up on my Live Journal, too. Any means to spread the news as quickly as possible helps, so any of you who frequent other boards, journals, etc… Get to posting! It’s time to rally the troups!
ARRGGHGHHHH!!!! I missed it!

Happy belated, big guy! Sorry I wasn’t paying attention…

Hope that finger recovers at a miraculous rate!

July 27, 2006 at 11:06 am in reply to: For the 40th time:Flanger+distortion sound on Freak Scene? #116060Welcome to the wonderful world of "vintage" effects! Back in the day, and with EH being one of the biggest offenders, these pedal makers would often use whatever close-enough parts that they could get for the lowest price. On top of that, sometimes two examples of the exact same part could be vastly different in themselves, since tolerence ranges were much more broad back then. So, two Big Muffs, etc., could be a month apart in age, and sound different, because EH got a new shipment of parts between them. It’s all part of the fun…

Actually, it’s pretty much the same story today, except that supply and manufacturing process have dramatically improved over the years, so things are much more consistant in functionality, availability and price.

Magic!

Loveless all the way, but Isn’t Anything is a very good album too!
