Come on Tonyman, let’s not make acusations before the fact. No one’s launched any missiles at the arab coutries yet. Let’s wait and see what unfolds before we start calling our prez a madman.

As for beefing up our security, I’ll feel that this may have to happen on an individual level. As Americans, I feel we’ve become too timid. Most people aren’t willing to put their lives on the line. We’ve been taught this in schools and its been shaped into our laws.

Even on much smaller scales, we’ve been taught that if some goon waves a weapon in front of you, demanding your wallet, we should just give it to him and cooperate. This teaches the criminals that they’ll receive no resistence. It makes it easy for them… If everyone faught back everytime they were robbed, the criminals would likely learn that crime is a very dangerous line of work. I realize that people would be hurt or killed at first, but if people desire their freedom, they sure as hell better be willing to fight for it, otherwise someone will take it away.

Truth is, the moment those terrorists hijacked the planes, ther should’ve been 20 angery passengers piling on top of them, tearing them limb from limb..! I wouldn’t supprised if that is the case in the event of future hijackings.

That’s an interesting concept, Halfman. I don’t know how feasible it is, but still pretty cool. There are two concerns that come to mind about it…

        1. Would it be able to effectively redirect the impact of such an enormous object, travelling at such a high velocity, such is a 767?

        2. In such a densely populated area as Manhattan, will the solution cause more damage than the problem? All that burning debris would fall onto the other buildings and streets below.

My idea builds on the fact that the original buildings survived the impact quite well. It was the fires that weakened the structure that caused the eventual collapse. So, I think that the new buildings should be able to catch and hold the planes, much like the original buildings, but also be equiped with a powerful anti-fire system. Even if it couldn’t put out such an intense blaze, it may be capable of keeping it under a certain temperature threshold. The grim fact is that, when a plane rams into a building, people are going to die. The focus is try to minimalize the casualties… If the WTC buildings hadn’t collapsed from the fire, they likely could’ve been saved and a lot less people would’ve had to die.

As to ELJ’s post. Like I said, a memorial park of some sort is very unlikely. Manhatten is about as prime as realestate gets, I’m fairly certain that was not the case in OK. also, if my facts are correct, the WTC towers comprised about 10% of the island’s office space. In any case, I’ve heard rumors that Juliani has said that the towers will be rebuilt. No comfirmation of any kind though, so take it w/ a grain of salt…

Some sort of memorial within the new buildings would most certainly be called for though. I’d even say an entire floor in each building. Some sort of garden and/or museum.

Don’t mistake my interest in such things for a belief. I just think that the particular quatrain fits remarkably well. I’ll have you know that I have always been fascinated by nearly all things claimed as ‘supernatural’. Doesn’t mean I believe in it, just that I like to study it…

For a man of 5’8" in stature, I seem to be very good at keeping my feet on the ground while having my head in the clouds…

Hey, you’re welcome. I still can’t wrap my brain around the breadth of tragedy, I gotta start with the few I know…

I am from NY, and my Mom & I have been trying all day to get ahold of people on the east coast. It’s been difficult because the phone lines are so messed up, but so far everyone seems to be okay.

I’d imagine that the switchboards are jammed with all the people trying to locate loved ones. If you’re getting what sounds like a fast busy-signal, that’s what it is.

I pray you find everyone you’re looking for unharmed…

Hmm that’s funny to find that the first one’s a fake… That things been bouncing all over the net. Makes me wonder about the 2nd one.

I mostly have taken Nostradamus w/ a grain of salt. I’m not saying there aren’t lots of abilities we haven’t discovered about the human brain, but no one’s that accurate. Like the website Palace Brother linked implied… If you make enough broad predictions, eventually one’s gonna hit paydirt.

Now, What number I’m thinking of..

Creepy… I’ve heard both of those quatrains repeated a few times since the tragedy. I don’t know about the first one, only the 2nd line and possibly, in the future, the 4th seem relevant at this point. It brings forth several questions. Is New York the city of God? I’ve never heard such a relation. But even more interesting… Who’s the ‘great leader’ and what is the ‘fortress’?

Now for the real spookfest, the 2nd quatrain you posted… It all fits, 2001 is the beginning of the new century, the 9, september obviously. But even creepier, New York’s longitudal location is somewhere around 45 degrees North!!! Married!!! I should hope I’d get to at least meet you in person first, let alone, get to know you…

You haven’t alienated me. Perhaps I’m of a rare type, but I always look at an opinion from all angles and respect those who may not see things in the same light that I do. Besides, a little difference in opinion always makes for interesting and fun realationships… I abhor complacency. My ideal partner would stand up and make it well-clear when she felt me wrong on an issue, yet be willing to listen to my reasoning on the subject (a respect I always do my best to give others.)

I do like the fact the Bush is willing to go full on to find and punish the guilty party/parties. I agree that he could’ve been, perhaps, a little more conforting, but I hardly think the man was callous about the situation. From the look on his face as he was walking form his copter earlier this evening, I could see a look of devistation on his face. By my observations, he’s taking this worse than he’s letting on TV. I feel that w/ Gore, we’d have the opposite situation… Very sympathetic publically, but hesitant to go full force with the search and punishment of the guilty.

Bottom line is, our nation hasn’t been in a situation like this EVER. We’re facing an invisible enemy, that wears no uniform, has no face, is willing to die for the cause, and has no problem slaughtering innocent people by the thousands. There’s simply no presidence for this situation, we’re forced to play it by ear as things unfold. It still hasn’t sunk in for me and I can tell you that the next few weeks are going to be very interesting, especially the day after…

I must admit that I am relieved to hear from you Rosa. If I remember correctly, you often reside in New York. I don’t know if you were anywhere near the WTC or even in the city, but I’m glad you’re OK in any case. (and if I’m wrong about you living in NY, I’m still glad you’re OK. )

As for Tonyman’s post about Bush ‘scurrying’ about the nation for safty. My understanding is that he wasn’t doing that at all. His advisors were urging him to move to the nuclear-proof moutain base in Nebraska, but he ended up going back to the Whitehouse, even though it wasn’t necessarily safe. He had to bounce around a bit though, he is the president, AKA target #1 (#2 being the Pope.) Gore would’ve had to evecuate too, as would any president.

As for people being down on the president for his verbal slip-ups, I hardly think they’re relevant to his ability to do the job… Look at the man when he’s on TV, the guy’s seriously camera shy. Beside’s I slip up my words fairly often, I think it’s because my brain moves to fast for my mouth to keep up. Can’t knock a guy for something I’m just as guilty of doing myself…

I meant Pearl Harbor as in the scale of the tragedy, not in that it would kick off another world war. I certainly don’t want that, but I do want some kind of action taken against the terrorists.

I don’t think this is going to be a WWIII scale event, but these actions are an act of war… We are now at war with whatever group caused this tragedy. They’ve woke the sleeping dragon, and heads are going to roll over this. I only hope we get the guilty party, but like I said, any group claiming responsability should be acted upon.

I can’t even think about how this event is going to completely restructure both the US economy and way of life. How much freedom are we going to have to give up to ‘protect’ us from future terrorism???

PS: I’m hearing that Osami Ben Ladin is pretty much the only one with the resources to pull this off… Its gonna get a lot worse before it gets better….

Once again, going w/ my father’s advice… We’re at war now… Anyone taking responsibility should be treated as if they were telling the truth. This has gone beyond justice. In war, if someone reveals themselves as the enemy, you open fire…

This is tragic… My dad, who works in the capitol building here in Tallahassee, was allowed to go home, so at least I don’t have to worry about him anymore. He said that this is our Pearl Harbor, now we know how the nation felt back then. The big difference is that, at least with Pearl Harbor, they knew who did it.

These people are worshipers of death. There is no justification for this madness. Just, how many can they kill w/ the cameras rolling.
