What makes you think there’s martial law around here..? There are another 2 admons, Saturn9 and myself, for those not keeping score. As well as several mods. Well, my new motherboard came yesterday…
I’m happy to say that I’ve successfully completed my first Socket A transplant. Got the computer to POST on my first try… And more importantly, I didn’t crush my CPU when I removed/reattached the heatsink/fan!!! [img]images/smiles/converted/cool.gif[/img]
Well, I’ve got Win98 reloaded, now I’m off to install Win2k… Honestly, I must’ve reloaded both of my OS’s 3 or 4 times over the last couple of weeks… [img]images/smiles/converted/rolleyes.gif[/img] Oh well, at least I’ll be really good at it!! [img]images/smiles/converted/biggrin.gif[/img]
MP3 is a bit of a mislabeling. It really means ‘MPEG-1, Layer 3.’ MPEG is a video / audio compression scheme. It basically lets one compress a large file into a smaller one w/ a small loss in quality.
The difference between dial-up and broadband is basically speed. Broadband is generally much faster than dial-up. The reason that you may not notice much difference in quality when downloading videos is because the bandwidth speed itself doesn’t directly effect the video quality.
When you see a website that offers different qualities for different bandwidths, its because that site actually has multiple copies of the same video. Each one has been compressed more or less to allow for different file sizes. Of coarse, the more a video is compressed, the more quality it loses.
