Went to the Metro show on friday. As everyone else said it was so laid back, a real tonic to hyped up stars etc. I was a bit worried about the venue Id heard bad things about the sound system but it seemed fine to me!
The support band were wicked loud and distorted, nice!
Went with Breezy and a few other friends and everyone enjoyed it. As we were leaving, J was at the bottom of the stairs and I was the only one of my friends to notice him there, and promptly made a fool of myself by shaking his hand and sluring something to him. He looked genuinly scared , but not as scared as he did when Breezy got his photo taken with him . So J if you read this i apologise. Im sure Breezy will apologise later when he has a moment. I still havent washed my hand .
Wicked show. Always wicked. Just wish i hadnt drunk so much!Come back soon J we love you !!!!
Hey malcomtent. Just say its full of protein!!
Bruce Springsteen – Nebraska
Chicken Lips – Extended PlayWho reckons that the guitarist from the Hives looks like Ian Curtis?! Hes got those same piercing eyes.
or Lemonheads Luka (Suzanne Vega) or Different Drum (Micky Dolenz or is it the other one Ill have a look when I get home!) or that Big Star one on the live at the brattle theatre cd with the accompanying country and western covers cd or Frank Mills I think its off the hair musical. I think Evan Dando needs to write more of his own stuff!!
Dinosaur Jr have done their fair share of covers too! Not that Im complaining, most are better than the originals. Monster Magnet No Fun (Iggy Pop)Well I looked through my records last night and could only find one red reccord which was Dave Clark – Rhapsody in Red. Other than the obvious Red Apple Falls – Smog. One less obscure one is Chris de Burgh – Lady in Red. Hee Hee, Im sure one of everyones favourites!
I had loads of other colours though especially Gold.
Gumball – Yellow Pants
Sonic Youth – White Cross
The Stranglers – Golden Brown (2 colours for the price of 1 !!)
Neil Young – Silver and Gold (what value!)
Lemonheads – Brass Buttons ( is brass a colour?)
Lots more but I fear Im boring people now!!the new bon jovi single!!
Well, its funny how different people have different views in catagories of music. The most shocking one in this topic is that Joy Division are termed as ‘goth’. No no no no!!
There music is definately dark and atmospheric but not goth.
I come from the town where they are from ( macclesfield ) and New order still record on at a studio on the outskirts of the town.
I hope this clears up any confusion!!
I like RHCP too.
I notice that swervedriver are mentioned too with JAMC, does any one remember LOOP?maybe im being a bit harsh, i do like that song about the girl who eats weird stuff all the time!
Got to go home now, Im still at work, and its past 8pm. Off to the pub!Didnt say how I got into Dino, started going to clubs in 89, when it was all Madchester, but the Dj at a particular club ( 5th Ave ) played freak scene and the pixies debaser. Totally loved both. Hooked ever since. Me and Breezoid (the other english bloke) go and see J most times hes in London.
hey flying cloud, thanks for the warm welcome, Im sure the other english bloke will appreciate it too.
Daydream Nation is good, but I never seem to get the whole way through it dunno why. I really like Goo too I know its a bit commercial but its got Mildred pierce on it which has to have some of the scariest screaming on any record, except for any celine dion record!
Cool, definately a classic, especially the picture on the back of J looking like a skinny Robert Smith!
Isnt Meatloaf touring with the Macclesfield Amature Dramatics Society doing a version of the Rocky Horror Picture show? The bigger they are the harder they fall, eh!
I reckon hes gonna make a big come back riding on the crest of the 1980s nostalgia wave.you creep breezoid, photos and everything, how can i impress my mew friends!
