I’ve got a tat on my back of the hitchhiker from the "Where You Been" album cover. I’ve even shown it to J and he dug it.
It was a pretty sweet setlist. It would have been great to hear some more off of Dinosaur and Bug, but I guess I’ve heard plenty during their previous reunion shows…not to mention it’s always nice to hear so much from "You’re Living All Over Me." The songs from "Farm" sounded extremely tight, like they have been playing them for years. It was also great to hear "Pick Me Up" and "Back To Your Heart" from "Beyond". I was surprised that they dropped "I Don’t Wanna Go There," but I’ve listened to it so much lately that I don’t feel like I was missing out.
"Over It’ was great live. J played the wah-wah part all by his lonesome, then the band came in and J just played chords without the wah-wah throughout the song. The song is even catchier live, and even sounded to me like they could use it as a theme song for a TV Show. It’s that catchy!
One example of this is the show on 5/10/07 at The Casbah in Dan Diego. The show was billed as "J Mascis and Friends", but it turned out to be a JayLouMurph show. I’m not saying that this is what will happen at ATP, but just an instance. I too miss the Fog and hope that they will continue side by side with JayLouMurph. It would be nice to hear more post-Lou/Fog songs live. Although I love Mike Watt to death, I too think that the Schools/Spence Fog was a better fit for the songs. I’ve listened back to a lot of the Watt-era Fog shows and his bass lines sound a little out of tune at times. Just my opinion.
he might be…especially since he is now heavily influenced by the teachings of amma and the indian culture. i remember him in 1991:The Year Punk Broke ordering chicken I think, but that was like 16 years ago, so who knows now.
not all vegetarians are stick thin. there are a lot of vegetarian foods that are high in calories and fat.
as for merch, unfortunately no "live in the middle east". i really wanted to buy it last night. i did however get a t-shirt with the "beyond" cover on the front. they also had the monster boy shirt, a new tour shirt with the dinosaur cover on front and tour dates on the back, as well as a variety of cow shirts and the dino jr sweatshirt. not to mention cd’s and such.
the set was really good and loud. the vocals were hard to hear…but due to dinosaur’s volume i find it to usually be the case. i thought it was a good setlist. half new and half old. the new songs were a bit unpolished since i don’t think they had practiced them all too much live. to me the highlight was "feel te pain". it was spot on last night and it sounds awesome with lou and murph playing on it.
i’d definitely reccomend checking out this tour. with encore they played for 80 minutes. not bad.
anyone know the setlist?
seBADoh were(are) a good band. smash yer head on the punk rock was the first i heard from them and fell in love with their style immidiately. once gaffney was gone it wasn’t the same…although it gave jake a chance to shine, but lou’s stuff just went downhill towards the end. the reunion shows were great though.
dinosaur: the leper
you’re living all over me: little fury things
bug: the post
green mind: puke + cry
where you been: get me
Without a sound: even you
hand it over: i’m insane
beyond: it’s memore light: more light
free so free: set us freemy dream reunion (which could be possible) is MY BLOODY VALENTINE.
i’m being featured on MTV’s True Life on 12/22 at 10 pm and I’ll be wearing the same dinosaur jr shirt. gots to represent.

April 5, 2005 at 11:17 am in reply to: So I kinda don’t want to know but this spaceland show…. #108381I’m sure it is just a cover for Dinosaur Jr. Lou lives in Silverlake so I’m sure they are doing a warm up show there since it is close to Lou. It should be a good show. The place only fits 300 people so it should be pretty intimate.
Quote:I’d love to see them on SNL, J was a guest guitarist a couple years back, they only played short clips of him doing Out There. He did stand on the stage at the end & wave to everyone…Yeah, that was a kool appearance. It was set up by Tim Meadows, who is a big Dinosaur Jr/J fan and who has been spotted at numerous L.A. Dinosaur shows. Now that Tim Meadows is no longer on the show I don’t know if they would be able to play since they are not the "flavor" of the week band…although when Donald Trump hosted it, Toots and The Maytalls played and they are not the most well known band. We can only hope. It would most likely depend on how succesful the reunion is. When they played Letterman back in the day, Dinosaur Jr was riding the whole "alternative" popularity wave. Only time will tell…

No Letterman yet. I’m guessing the only way they’ll play Letterman is if they do a "succesful" U.S. tour and make it through New York…although I can see them more realistically playing Conan. I think it would be amazing if they did Saturday Night Live so they could do 2 songs.

As for Lou and J’s astrological signs and such…I think a tour would be fine. They’ve both aged 15 or so years since breaking up and I think they would have more fun now then when they first played together. Sometimes it takes age to make you lighten up about life and relationships. I think the shows will be like the past year’s Pixies reunion where the band was just smiling and having fun. I think Lou and J will be able to forge a friendship once again.
It will just be good to see them together again.
Quote:I think J has done some of his best songwriting (deeper more authentic) post Dinosaur.I agree with this, but it would be good to see the original band play the original songs. In L.A. it looks like Dinosaur will open for J and the Fog. That would be a kool tour, that way we can still hear J’s newer stuff. Or J could open for Dinosaur. More bang for your buck.
