I’m glad you started this thread. I meant to start one last week. So yeah, I’m going. I’m coming all the way up from the Baltimore, MD area. I’m pretty excited about it. Dino is my favorite and watching J play is somewhat therapeutic for me, so I said ‘what the hay’ and bought a ticket.
Yeah, seeing the band as a four piece will be very interesting too. I’m prety excited about Johnny Marr and Kim Gordon. I’m not too familiar with Al Cisneros, but hopefully he’s cool.
Interesting. My copy of remastered Green Mind plays like crap on my computer and through my iphone. Does anyone else have that problem or a remedy? I read that this is a problem for certain Warner Bros. Cd’s
I remember he produced the Breeders album. Had no idea Freed Pig was on there. Interesting, very interesting.

Wow, that was pretty terrible. I’m not familiar enough with Lou Barlow’s work to make the deductions the author made, but I can smell a ‘huge leap’ from a mile away.
1. Did J Mascis produce ‘Freed Pig’?
I could do a google search or something to find out, but while this guy is taking wild stabs in the air I’m going to take a less wild try at it and say say no.
2. Murph may drum on albums, but I’m sure we all know J writes the drum parts. Murph is great and does contribute to the sounds, but there’s not much of a collaboration to speak of.
3. The great ‘leap’ the author takes to insinuate that songs like “Not the Same”, “Going Home” and “Keeblin'” were J’s conscientious attempts to make songs like Lou Barlow. Pft!!! I mean, as if! This guy is trying to paint J as a guy so concerned what Lou Barlow is doing that he’s trying to sound like him. Really? You wish buddy! It’s an interesting thought, but you are asking your readers to compare and the conclusion is uhhh, no!
4. He reverts back to some concocted collaboration between J and Sebadoh! Am I a big idiot? Will later posts prove that he’s right? Because as far as I know they did not talk to each other during this period.
5. The writer really wants to believe that somehow Lou Barlow has a connection and influence in Dinosaur Jr. in the 90’s. For what reason I don’t know, but I can tell you I don’t really see it or the point of it. The issue is moot, but moreover makes the writing look ridiculous to me.
And those are my thoughts Jeremiah….
So how is it Tonas? Really good I’m sure!
just got an email saying that it’s shipped!
Bueno, gracias a Dios que yo ablo español! Los muñecos parecen muy bien. Ahora se tieñe averiguar cuantos valen?
Just Like Eggnog essgee09?
J does use chord phrasing that you wouldn’t expect. I wonder if it’s his unique style or something he picked up from the Wipers or Niel Young or what not. Very unique anyways.
Ah, I remember when Juned toured with them in ’94. I didn’t know Mike Johnson was married to one of the girls. The bassist and guitarist were pretty cute!
They did one of Mike’s songs, can’t remember if J got on drums for that. Probably did. Mike probably played guitar.
I probably grossly underestimated that period, but I was only 20 then. I really love Hand it Over a lot more these days than I did back then. Liked it then, love it now.
I liked Shearwater very much. I thought they put on a really good show and Dinosaur stepped up their open act significantly.
I saw them that tour in Baltimore at Bohagers. It was pretty awesome. Krist Novoselic had a band and was opening up for them. Great show, great times!
urlivingalloverme – I think I saw you. That’s sweet! I hope you were wearing earplugs. I was standing about 20 ft back and my ears were ringing for two days and then I saw them again, with earplugs….
Very cool story Hybridge!
