I like the Letterman ensembles. I think it makes the the songs sound great. How could J argue with that? He created all the parts.
I sure didn’t mind the Bertz and Johnson trio while it was going on so I won’t complain about it now. All I know is Dinosaur Jr. today sounds fantastic. I think J upped his game a lot since the 90’s. Though I wish he would wear suites again….
I have the set list at home. I’ll see if I can take pictures of it and post it. The two songs played before “Bug” are on the Blu-Ray.
Was this in sale in CD and regular LP format? I just picked up a copy. I’m a little surprised they didn’t sell out sooner. $25.98 is a little steep though…
Well they just got done with a tour of ‘Bug’ which we all know after the album and tour Lou was released. Now Lou managed to survive another string of three albums and J’s mind must be happy and because he is happy his mind must now be purple. The new album is going to be called ‘Purple Mind’
I haven’t watched the whole thing yet, but I must agree the sound on it is amazing. I got it on blu-ray, looks awesome! I was in the front row, so I’m excited to see myself. I can assure you that standing in front of J, the bass was not as audible live as it is on the dvd. Give you an appreciation for the mixing they did on this.
I’ll have to go back and try to look at it objectively. Right now I’m too psyched about being in it. I’ll have to look at the over all meaning of this show, they performed ‘Bug’ in its entirety was it a good idea? Where doe it rank on Dinosaur Jr. shows?
There’s no questioning J’s musicianship. The mixing brings to light Murph and Lou’s playing as well. It allows you to see what they’re all doing up there and again it sounds pretty good so far. I’ll have to come back and revisit this.
I have a copy, nut I’d like to keep it. Its interesting that you can’t find one. I’m sure they’re still around.
The Cure 1992 for the Wish Tour. Great show! I asked for the tickets for my 15th birthday. I believe I saw them the day of my birthday. Ironically enough the first time I can remember Dinosaur coming around, I was too young. You had to be 18 to get into Hammerjacks in Baltimore. I’m sure there were plenty of under age kids who missed out on going to that show.
That is very cool Tonas. I was on the look out for one, but alas I just wasn’t at the right place at the right time. Please let us know when it comes in and give the details, like if in fact you got “Water”. Pics would be cool too. I haven’t seen what the T Shirt looks like so that should be interesting.
Great show last night and a really nice venue. I expect all of J’s shows to be in elegant halls and to be free of charge from now on!
Anymore info on this tour? An extension of the “Several Shades of Why” tour? That is awesome. I seriously want to go to the D.C. show!
I missed this. Thanks for bringing it up. I’ve been looking for footage of J playing with Tony Bennett from the Unplugged show in 1994…and nuthin’. The archives aren’t complete without these!

I just installed the exact same pick ups in my J Mascis Jazzmaster and the difference is amazing. For anyone looking to buy a Jazzmaster and keeping on the low end in the budget I would suggest buying a Japanese model and switching out the pick up to which ever manufacturer you heart desires.
Other mods I’ve done – Replaced the Nut to Tusq XL, String trees to Tusq, and Bridge to Resomax all of which have further improved the sound & tone of my guitar. If you’re mechanically inclined all of the upgrades are easily done in your home and you’ll learn a bunch of other neat stuff like how to set the intonation on your guitar.
