Honestly I hadn’t noticed just how much Dinosaur has been on tour since 2005 until I looked on freesofree.com and looked it up. I hadn’t seen J since the solo tour in 2002 and Dinosaur since the 1997 tour before they broke up. So I’m just getting back into it and ready for the next time they come to town which I expect will be next year some time.
Sorry to hear that they seemed like they were on a tight schedule especially because you may have missed ‘I don’t wanna go there’ That doesn’t seem cool at all. I agree with you though the band sounds tight and I really hope that it will begin to expand from there i.e. more tunes that fans want to hear that are rare. Personally, I’d love to hear two album sets with just them and no opener. On a marketing level I think a lot of fans would go for this peaking interest in those who in might be waning.
I don’t live anywhere near Texas I just wanted to share in your enthusiam and charge you to get back here and tell us about the show. I saw them in Philly and they were great. J sounds the best I’ve ever heard him and Lou and Murph are really rockin’ it too! Have fun at the show!
Thanks for sharing. I appreciate hearing from everyone from every show please keep them coming! That’s very cool that you got to talk to Murph and Tom. I was able to speaking to the Missing Men’s drummer before the show at Philadelphia. They’re very cool guys.
Like you and your wife, I’m not into moshing anymore. Dinosaur’s music is so much more than that, but I definitely love to rock out so I like it when people are showing enthusiasm.

Budge
I Want You To Know
Get Me
Pieces
Plans
Little Fury Things
Imagination Blind
Feel The Pain
Over It
Forget The Swan
Freak Scene
Back To Your Heart
I Don’t Want To Go ThereI couldn’t stay for the encore, but I think I saw The Wagon written on the list
Wasn’t The Lung somewhere in there? Hope I’m not imagining anything. Anyways awesome show and awesome crowd! The band sounds tight. J is at the best I’ve ever seen him, Lou is totally into it just rockin out and Murph is a beast on drums!

The place was packed…packed with uptight white midwesterners who don’t know what to do when they’re bombarded with punishing psychedelic rawk driven by guitar solos that can peel the paint off yer soul. So they stand there and nod their stoic appreciation of a well done number and glance nervously at their watches. Jeezus, the place should have been an orgiastic den of whirling dervishes and instead we get people standing around. No mosh pit even.Thought the band was incredible – J. was fairly animated and the sound was damned good. The solos were awe-inspiring. I enjoyed the Akron show earlier in the year much better, but only cuz that was a tiny venue and the folks there were more willing to fully participate in the transcendence offered.
How have crowds been at other venues?
I was at the Philly show. The crowd was moving around a bit. I was standing in the back. I’m no stiff I was definitely rockin’ it, but I’m considerate too. I’m 32 now and I’m glad to see that the days of moshing at a Dinosaur shows are over. I think it’s totally cool to listen, but there has to be some movement. Lou made a comment about the D.C. crowd standing around for most the show and how Philly was awesome. A band needs to see a little movement.

That’s not Dinosaur Jr. it’s Lou Barlow’s band the missing men. Lou Barlow plays his songs as the opening act and then he plays the Dinosaur Jr. show. The Missing Men are actually the Minute Men; Mike Watt’s band, And yes Mike Watt is playing. Tonight Bob Mould will join them in Philadelphia.
Edit: His name is Tom Watson and its the Second Men not the Minute Men. And it looks like Mike Watt is the Missing Man. My bad!
I’d add "See you" in there if they haven’t been playing it. Love that song!
Interesting indeed! I don’t know anything about it. I’d love to have the music!
Yeah, it sounds like the sets aren’t much longer than an hour. Boo to that! I want 1 1/2 at least! Especially as ticket prices have gone up!
I hear you except for Out There, I think that songs good any day of the week. I think we need to let the band know that we want to hear more songs from Without A Sound and Hand It Over. I also don’t think we ever got a proper tour for Free So Free, which in my opinion is one of J’s best albums. We need to hear songs from that one too!
Check out dinosaurjr.com and click on store. They have them there. I’m not sure what size though. Hope it helps. Glad you got to see them and had a good time at the show.
God bless!
Good stuff! Where is part one?
This is very good news! Keep up the good work! I hope as many people as can make it to the show hear about this.
I would, but don’t you have to be a member of the society that puts on the "free" show?
